Want to run VICE on a very small device.

You need an actual VIC.

Want to run VICE on a very small device.

Post by JohnnyRockets »

What is the smallest (portable) device that someone is running VICE on?

I thought about a very small Linux device or something, but am unsure what is ideal.

I kind of envision something with a keyboard of some kind, but I'd like to go even smaller than an Nebook.

Anyone have any ideas?
Thanks!

JR

Hi!

Hey thanks for showing that to me, so I can drool over it!

$500 is still mighty steep!

Wow is it cool though! 8)
Thanks!

I'll take a picture of it running the VIC-20 emulator and post it here.

I was on the pre-order for more than 2 years waiting for the Pandora. I think the price then was about $350 or so. It was taking forever so I eventually "upgraded" my order by paying the difference in the pre-order price and the current price, which gave me immediate shipping.

It had been so long since I had payed the initial $350 that it was worth paying the rest just to get the device. I would never shell out $500 for it again though.

Any technology distinguishable from magic is insufficiently advanced.

I have one, awesome battery life, can even charge your phone from the USB port!

It really is a mini laptop that can run Linux and also Android with access to the App store.

It emulates Mame and Amiga and consoles very well.

and yes it can be used to play Doom ;-)

Here's the VICE VIC-20 emulator. I took pictures of the boot screen and a couple shots of Ten Ten. The aspect ratio can easily be changed to 4:3, which is usually what I do.

I also agree with Ian, the battery life is wonderful on this device. :)

Is it possible to adjust the aspect ratio there?

But for the Raspberry you need an external display and keyboard.
