You need an actual VIC.

I don't think there is anyone interested in implementing it at the moment but it is feasible.

Feel free to contribute.

Can't see any problems when testing here.

Yes, paddle #1 is working great now, but paddle #2 is awful. Perhaps their code fix did not extend properly for it? :?

I must admit, I've never really tested that. So, if you have two mice plugged in, you can get two paddles going?

Move mouse left-right for paddle #1, up-down for paddle #2. A wireless mouse or a trackball makes handling a lot easier... my Break-Out! game is what I used for testing this out, as each player has their own controller, but only one at a time.

I don't see any option for multiple mouse setups, although Linux enumerates as /dev/input/mouse0 and /dev/input/mouse1 ... I would think it would be a trivial matter to implement.

FYI, I just checked out revision 25062, and it looks like the mouse driver was updated and reflects well with paddle #2 now. :D

I am also gratified to see so much newer work put into VICE internals as of late... it's startup AND shutdown times are much cleaner and faster than ever before. And lookee here at some persisted, WORKING window geometry settings in the vicerc file:

Code: Select all

Window0Width=1052
Window0Height=1080
Window0Xpos=312
Window0Ypos=78
YES!!!!

I've been kind of out of the loop on this thread. Is this feature (TFE/RR-Net support) included in these builds?

FYI, 2.3.13 has been issued. I love the new drive sound emulation. 8)

I just bought an Intel Atom D525 to use as a dedicated retro arcade/computer/console machine... a mini-ITX machine makes it easy to move from room-to-room and place-to-place and emulators do not require a LOT of power to run at 100% speed.

This one is duo core and fanless, so I coupled it with a 64gb SSD drive to keep it noiseless. The 3.5" tray houses this 2.5" drive and provides frontside ports for a variety of memory readers (which is really convenient for 2gb SD cards to interchange with my uIEC drives to play on real hardware).

Plus, this Atom mobo comes with a parallel port (even though I bought ZoomFloppy, too, I have a XA1541 parallel adapter), so that got me to install the OpenCBM drivers for it today. Command line testing of it worked like a charm.

I recompiled latest VICE (took only 5min 38sec to compile for both SDL and GTK binary builds). I keep forgetting to 'turn off' true drive emulation when enabling use of VICE peripherals as 'real device access'. But after that toggle, I am able to use real CBM drives off that parallel port adapter.

This boxed mobo/CPU was so inexpensive, I have to consider purchasing another to keep as a spare.

EDIT: I just loaded the latest nibtools and was able to nibble-copy my original copy of Adventure Construction Set floppy. Awesome, it runs perfectly hitting the EA half-track copy protection scheme: x64 -truedrive -autostart acs.g64

Do you think will be released an android version too ?

At the moment in the market there is just a c64 vice version with a not well integrated user interface too :cry:

Android tablet, perhaps, but the retro stuff on phones do not fancy me at all.

Speaking of which, looks like 2.3.14 development release got committed about an hour ago... compiling the source tree for SDL and GTK now. Woot!

Yes, It's a taste's matter, btw have you tried Mame4Droid from your phone ? I love it !

Sometimes I use the C64 VICE that has a good emulation but not a good user interface :?

An X20 emulation is not a bad idea in my opinion.

4.2 star rating for MAME4DROID, that's pretty good so I will check it out, thanks.

Development VICE 2.3.17 released a few hours ago, looks like quite a bit of work went into SuperPET and the 6809 CPU option. Where does one find all those nice Waterloo languages to try out? Maybe I should check Zimmer's FTP site ... :P

Looks like mouse / paddle emulation is working much better now, and they put in the xvic joystick define keysets UI as is available for x64. Nice.
