Converting TAP files to T64, PRG, or D64

You need an actual VIC.

tapclean can convert a .tap file to a .wav file.
Check out the linux version.
If you want to run tapclean on OSX, you need download the source code (from sourceforge) and compile it yourself as we've only got linux and windows executables.

It works!

I downloaded a good sized .tap file from vic20tapes.org

I first tryed to use one of those tape adapters you use to play a CDwalkman in a car tapedeck. I cant get the door to close all the way on the vic's tape drive so i dont think its lining up right. Whole lot of fail there.

2nd try i tried to use my sony tape deck. Fail part II. I think the stereo is messing me up

Round 3 i broke out the tapedeck from my Metal Aquarius and BINGO!

Now i just need to find a .tap of a terminal program that will let me Xfer binary files with my Vic modem. That will let me send files back and forth with ease.

Ugh! I want to try a C64 program, but it's in the dreaded T64 format. I think the most needed thing in this community is a universal converter! T64 to PRG. PRG to D64. etc. Even better if it's browser based like common music and video converters. Does anyone have a suggested solution for me for now?

DirMaster. It lets you extract the PRG files from T64 shells, and create/edit D64s with PRG files and much more.
