I have a Vic 20 that displays a bunch of random characters on screen at boot up.
Im trying to find the issue, but cant find it. I tested all socketed chips in a working one, and they look fine.
I’ve been suggested to look at this link, which suggests it may be a RAM issue:

Any suggestions? Where can I get memory chips if that’s the case?

Re: Vic display issue
I would look on ebay for the ram chips.

Re: Vic display issue
I had a similar issue. There ended up being multiple things wrong. I had a broken track on the data bus that I discovered by doing connectivity tests. But I did also replace all of the 2114 chips, so I can't rule out one or more of the originals being faulty. My BASIC ROM was also faulty.
This is where I got my 2114 chips:

They're obviously based in the UK though.
