image too dark

The image is too dark. I assumed VIC-I:

UB7 6560-101 VIC VIDEO/AUDIO
White or blank screen, garbled or no video, screen full of (or few
random) "garbage" characters. "Blind" disk commands may still work.
Partial failure: Dark or smeary image, loss of color, garbled or no
sound, game paddles or light pen doesn't work.
... and swapped it. Same result.

Then I thought trimmer near the VIC-I, but which one (2 prong PSU). I can see 3...

Well I tried the one on the left (as this is near the luma pin) and rotated about "2 hours" anti clockwise and the white is white again.

Not sure what the component number is. This is the board:

Those two, R7 and R32, are trimmer resistors and control video signal amplitude and biasing of the emitter follower in the video amplifier.

The trimmer capacitor C35 is reponsible for fine tuning of the master oscillator clock. Unless it's so much off, that the colour carrier frequency isn't anymore recognised by the TV set or monitor (and you'd get a grey picture), you were well advised to leave it alone. ;)

Thanks, this makes sense. Then I turned R7 '2 hours' anti clockwise and my luma was brighter. Thanks Mike. I will correct my posts above.
