As you've probably figured out, it is unfortunately waaaay more involved than that. If you want VGA out from the VIC-20 you're looking at a similarly complex process. Adding VGA to the Mega-Cart would undoubtedly more than double the cost. Not to mention the huge time investment by the person that makes it.
As you said though, dreams are free! :D

Mega-Cart!

Post by edoo »

My first computer was a VIC-20. I've decided to re-live some of those days and bought a VIC-20 on eBay! I have cleaned it up and it works very well! I got my uIEC from my c64 to work on the VIC, but miss all of those great cartridge games.

I purchased the mega-cart today. Well, I should say I pre-ordered it as I haven't received the payment e-mail yet. I'm looking forward to playing those old games again, like Omega Race, IFR, and Gorf.

I'm really looking forward to it and introducing my 7 year old son to it. He LOVES playing the c64 games, so I think it's going to be a real treat.

I still haven't gotten the payment e-mail. Hopefully, soon!

Don't expect it right away. Last time I checked, there was still a wait of several months. It's a one-man show so patience is required.

I put in an order for a Megacart back about Feb 14. I haven't received any kind of response. Is that to be expected..?

I'm sure he'll get to you, he is very busy. Each mega cart made is made from scratch by Brian, so I'm amazed he gets it done as quickly as he does to be honest.

The last few years of his life must have been dominated by getting these carts out to the public. It must be grueling.

I'll be putting in an order soon, just to keep him busy. (well, and that I like to own one, of course)

New Mega-Cart firmware (rev.21) released.

Just a small update to include the latest dumped rare cartridge game "Bomber Word"

What's new from rev.20:
Added "Bomber Word" to the Cartridge games section
Removed "Invaders" from the tape/disk games section
Mega-Cart: the cartridge you plug in once and for all.
