Re: Coming soon : Zombie Calavera Prologue
looks fantastic!
those sprites have a real turn of speed and the artwork is excellent.

Jumping, shooting, elevators, bats, the living dead (skeletons instead of mummies) - reminds me about Pharaoh's Curse!
Looks excellent.
The 'micro-scrolling' (I guess by necessity rather than by design) makes it even cooler.

Re: Coming soon : Zombie Calavera Prologue
The quick jumping and shooting makes it look a little like a zoomed-in Pharaoh's Curse with more distinctive, up to date artwork. Looks like it plays really well too. Very excited about this!

Looks great! The VIC-20 is really having a renaissance these past few years.

Re: Coming soon : Zombie Calavera Prologue
I agree this looks fantastic. I've thought about the outline around the moon as well. It looks like the game uses the inverse-mode, so the background color is black and every other color is a char-color. Two solutions to fix the outline come to mind:Kweepa wrote:Also please fix the outline around the moon!
- using raster-interrupts to change the background-color
- using multicolor-chars for the moon
However both methods would lead to corruption once a "sprite" goes through the moon-graphics. Not sure, if the moon could be placed in a safe-area on the screen that the sprites cannot go, but this would probably mean a big change to the level-design.

Ugh, stupid VIC-20.
Ah, I just noticed the 'mojon twins' credit - so it's based on an old Speccy game. Nice!

Do not dare Kweepa!Kweepa wrote:Ugh, stupid VIC-20.
Great job Majikeyric, can't wait to play this! Also, a cart commercial release with its wonderful box and instructions and everything would be just COOOOOL
Re: Coming soon : Zombie Calavera Prologue
another alternative would be to draw those corners in every alternate frame and let the moon shimmer a bittokra wrote:I agree this looks fantastic. Re: Coming soon : Zombie Calavera Prologue
I guess the most simple solution to the moon borders would be a coarse black outline. It would require 8 additional chars though.
The outline can be camouflaged further in many ways:
Half moon with craters Wicked man-in-the-moon Spookily clouded (needs even mored additional chars)
Note that this is the Spectrum version moon + outline (i.e. square pixels and Spectrum colors).

Yeah, I almost expected that after having seen the full map of the Spectrum game.majikeyric wrote:
