A bit of fun - what is your favourite Vic20 sound effect?

I really enjoy the LaserZone title sounds as well as the game sounds.

Also of note is the multiple sound effects present at the same time on Myriad - try shooting and leaving one alien from the invaders and starting the next wave.

What are your recommendations for notable Vic20 sounds?

These could be evocative of the character or gameplay or notable for technical accomplishment.

I can only agree. Lazer Zone sounds fantastic. Matrix also has amazing sounds - Jeff Minter was a Vic 20 SFX genius! I was disappointed with the sounds of a lot of early C64 games as I had been spoilt by Minters Vic 20 games. Most of the early C64 games sounded feeble and twee in comparison.

I really enjoyed the sfx in gorf. One of the few games that has caught my ear.

My FAVORITE is from Vic-20 Pinball. I really like the sound when the bumpers are hit..i just thought it had a cool sound.

The Atarisoft games generally had respectable sound...

Right, how could I forget Star Battle and Jelly Monsters Those Japanese guys managed to squeeze astonishingly arcade-like sounds from the Vic!

They wimped out on the bass line for the Jelly Monsters intro dittie though

Very true and a shame, but the other sounds more or less make up for it. I especially enjoy the sounds of eating ghosts and fruits. Immensly satisfying! Also, the sound of the ghosts returning to the base. Better than the original IMO.

Jupiter(super) Lander also has great sound effects.
