So, my recent VIC article for Retro Gamer has stirred up interest in Perils of Willy.
But tracking down the author is proving tricky.
The credit in Gamebase20 is for John Chaytor. He definitely has platform pedigree, having created Felix in the Factory for the BBC, published by Micro Power.
But... Disassembling the code has found the names S HEARNDEN and I AMOS.
A post to comp.sys.cbm by Steve Hearnden also claimed he had written it.
So, can anyone shed any light on this?

Re: Perils of Willy
I wouldn't remember where I got John Chaytor from tbh. If it proves to be someone else, then I'll update the credits heh.
Lie with passion and be forever damned...

Similar info when look at the comments in this youtube video:

User 'Soft Tango' says;:
"John Chaytor is sometimes credited with writing this game. He didn't, I know I asked him!
Anyway the game code internally bears the names "S HEARNDEN and I LOMAS"... not sure who these could be!
Internally it also contains the text "MANIC MINER", which I think it was originally meant to be. You'll notice it never says The Perils of Willy anywhere except the name of the tape file when it loads."
