Hello

I was looking for Trainers, cheats and trainer pokes for the VC20.

I found this site: http://www.willcox.de/index2.htm

You have to click on "runterlad Gebiet".

You can find some disks full of trained and fixed VIC20 games there.

Does anybody here know some more trained versions ?
I was looking for a trainer cheat poke doc but couldnot find it...

It never occurred to me that one wants these cheat pokes. I remember it became popular in the C64 era, and cartridges like Action Replay even has a pokefinder. It works like this: first enter how many lives you have right now. The finder will search through memory for likely positions, and tell you to resume the game and lose one life. Then you go back to the pokefinder, and if you're lucky, it will install one or more pokes of which at least one should be the right one, typically changing DEC to LDA or inserting three NOPs. The cartridge also has a sprite collission killer, but that is not useful in VIC-20 terms since it does not have hardware sprites.

When I was younger, I found some of these pokes cool.. imagine 255 helicopters in Fort Apocalypse* or unlimed number of lives in Manic Miner, but these days I would only use it if I get annoyed about not seeing the next level.

*) A typical VIC-20 vaporware title, unless it has shown up recently?

I know these Pokes and Action Replay Stuff from the C64.
I found some cheats by my self just using S-MON on the C64 when I was young.

But when I found these Trained VIC 20 games I was impressed !
I did not know before that somebody trained VC20 games...

Some of the VIC20 games a really hard to play.

At the moment I try to play Forbidden Towers (jump & run) and it is
really difficult (but I like these kind of Jump and run games)

A cheat would be great

Resurrecting this thread for 3 reasons.

1. Does anyone have a set of files from this Willcox.de? It seems to have gone.

2. Is there a trained Forbidden Tower - pig of a game to play as is.

3. Anyone have a poke or train for lives on Star Defence / Star Defender?

5 disks full of stuff.
Everthing still there.
Including forbidden tower on disk5
I finshed the game with that trainer

Apologies - I misinterpreted what I was seeing as a closed site where the domain name has reverted and lots of soundalike links appear - e,g. Toyah Willcox.

If ever a game required a trainer, it is Forbidden Tower. A very impressive late Vic game that is completely ruined by the insane difficulty level.

Some of the other trainers, like Fire Galaxy and Bongo, seem very much justified too.

I tried the Forbidden Tower trainer.

Infinite Lives - good.

Collision detection works great....but how do you climb the ropes with no detection? I could only get so far then I was stuck and could go no further.

When the C64 brought cheats to the masses, I always wished there were some for the Vic too. I look forward to explore these games - some of which are very difficult. Thanks!

I have created a TRAINER GAMES folder in the SD card... game heaven for game losers

EDIT: decided to go for real diskette instead. Let's see, which game to try first? Skramble of course
