Very nice! An excellent conversion! I love the huge explosions!
Watching the video, I didn't understand the rules. Do the enemy tanks have to shoot the eagle or touch it? Or does it depend on the level?

Thanks :) - Basically you have to protect the eagle from being shot by the enemy (and your own!) tanks. I updated the OP too.

I have several versions of this game on an old 76 in 1 Nintendo clone. I can't wait to try a VIC 20 version!

You misunderstood my question.
If you watch the video of the arcade game, there are bullets passing through the eagle all over the place without ending the game...

You're right, I had never noticed that before and I hadn't watched that particular video through. I normally don't let the wall surrounding my base get destroyed.

Even the strategy wiki say's that the base can get killed by enemy bullets..

[edit] Now I'm really confused, I just tried it on mame and I think it might be related to the DIP switch settings as I just witnessed my base destroyed by enemy shells....

OK, think I have the answer to the riddle. I think the above video might have been made using this option under Mame..

well spotted though :)

Awesome! I *remember* playing this game in the Arcade. I have a standup MAME cabinet at home with this on it and it's great fun. An outstanding port -- the vic is well suited to this game. Thank you!

Very nice conversion! Might it be too optimistic to say that now that you've created this game engine, you are half-way toward finally realizing Wizard of Wor on the VIC-20?
It seems to be a very similar type of game - shooting enemies while walking around a maze. "Sprites" (or whatever the moveable graphic objects really are) seem to be about the same size as the ones in Wizard of Wor, etc.
