:) Incredible momentum for new VIC games! Who would have bet there was another flame waiting to burn afer batch of last September?

The game seems very good, but I can't get past the first gate, sooooo.... I'll wait for someone to try it before asking how to play  .

I so can't get through the first gate. Maybe it's the beer… %)

Good effort, but it's a LOT harder than the C64/Android versions. I can't get past the first post.

ok,

Maybe it was too hard. I made few fixes and now it's easier.

I tried the two on the C64 and they have some logic, if you flap a lot it will go up...

This seems more like bouncy bird and you can increase the height of the bounce... I tried a few runs, wasn't able to master the controls - at least not in VICE. :-(

Technically impressive, I like the scrolling. However the game is ridiculously hard, even harder than the original game. In the VIC-version the bird goes higher the longer you press the button. In the original it goes a fixed height for each button press, no matter how long you hold the button. This is still more than hard enough. I rarely get even ONE point on Viccy Bird. Maybe you can get it to the "original" behavior (which also means you die when hitting the ground).

I tested c64 version again and yes. My mistake. Fixed height feature added.
Thank you for testing..

Nice! That's a lot more playable now. Thanks.

I've just had a little fun playing with the background by typing:

POKE 6339, 16 * Background-color + 8

before RUNning. Value 232 (light blue) looks good. 56 (cyan) looks like original day on Android if a little too bright on the VIC. Original value 104 (blue) looks most like night on Android. I've noticed on the original the color of the bird itself changes a little from game to game (red, yellow and blue). Did you try using a multicolor "sprite" on the VIC. The hires-bird looks pretty close the original, not sure how much the wider multicolor-pixels would destroy that.

New version updated. Few minor fixes etc.

I tested different background colours and I think that dark background is best when "sprite" has 1 bright color.
If I would use multicolor "sprite" It would need more pixels.

Good work...

That's a lot more playable now. Managed to get a whole 5 points !

Being picky here, but if you did want to take it any further...

- would be nice to have a similar white noise to the original as the sound doesn't sound very mich like flapping
- seems a little bit of lag between pressing the button and it flapping?
- animation of the bird falling to the ground when you die would be nice
- no bell when passing a column

Okay,

I updated sounds and "bell" added.

I tested it with real VIC and I have to say that VICE is harder than real HW + joystick.

Getting better..... :D

Main issue now I think is that if you press and hold down the button it flaps multiple times. This sometimes pushes you into the columns and kills you, if you hold down a little longer than intended.

Can you put a lockout in so you have to release and repress the button for each flap?

[Edit - above issue is due to Vice/XBOX 360 Controller combo ONLY]

Once again thanks. Great work....
