:D Clunkiness is the true spirit of retro tech, isn't it?

I am getting better at pulse now. Thanks for the slowed version. I am now back to correct version and expanded ram.

There is on objection that I have which is unfair. There seems to be no collision detection for the aliens and landscape. The seem to happily fly through the scenery on the narrow sections without harm.

What can I say… 20th dimension! You have much better weaponry – shouldn't that make up for it?

Have to say, I'm really impressed with Pulse.
The loading sequence is very clever, and the game is great.

Thanks! So many people are impressed by it that I even play it myself now. ;)

The idea for the intro was to let more planets pass by – to make it look like one was flying away from the sun towards the spaceship which would then kind of zoom into the splash screen (with very blocky text graphics). That's why it's also loading game data when the radio programme is playing. Well… could have, would have. Still a little bit frustrating for me to see the screen go blank for such a long time.

The successor will probably take two years to come out. (Hey, I'm not joking. Multiplied by three already. ;)) First the Ultimem file manager, Arukanoido is also waiting and who knows what will get in the way again…

Perhaps, meanwhile somebody creates a web based VIC sound/tune designer. Would go well with beamrider's VIC screen designer. :D

Yes! a new pb at last - 817 p :D Phew... it gets damn hard with about 20 bombs clustering in on you, but I like it! It adds some welcome variety to the gameplay when you have to foucus on evading and fooling those suckers to crash.

My new Megastar III joystick definitely helped me - excellent response, very reliable at diagonals and fire buttons that don't cause as much fatigue as Tac-2. Thanks, pixel :)

Also, about reaction time for all us older retro gamers - don't fret - reaction time peaks at about 38 years of age when the myelin sheath is at its thickest. The decline thereafter is a very slow. You should be able to play fast shooters well into your 60s without problem :)

Playing the TAP now with the princess. Very good.

What is the difference between the versions? I noticed the 16k PRG seemed to have less weapons than the TAP.

I asked hukotoforce to port to the C64. Looking forward to the next "bun fight".

Uh! And what did they say? Looks like a rather complicated thing to me that'd go better with the latest sources which aren't public yet.

That kid in the top image looks like a clone of mine when I got my first VIC. Will be more careful to remove all traces of DNA before bagging tapes next time.

Are you planning a floppy version? My tape deck is missing its cable and I have stocked up on floppy drives.
