Well thank you. Playing against the computer is OK, but it's quite an experience to play 'head to head'.OBSysteme wrote:wow, that is a neat series... I think I will try these with a visiting friend during the holidays. I can'T remember the last time I played hotseat on a computer with someone , it's probably been since pre-teen years.
I've got to say those little unit icons are neatly done.
if you continue like that we might have axis and allies for the vic-20 one day
Question: how hard would it be to have a war map that is larger than screen display?, for example a 4-pannel map (four screen size) which you could switch from one pannel to another using arrow of F keys?
As for making a game map bigger than the screen? Well, I'd have to make a version that required memory expansion. But I think that limiting the game onto the same screen makes it easier to see everything at once. The intent is not to create a giant war game like SSI's Panzer General but one that can be played relatively quickly (though it once took me three hours to beat LEVEL 5 in Theater I).
I love Axis and Allies. I think the closest I've seen to a map-based wargame on the VIC-20 is the most excellent VICtoria Gold.
I continued to fix bugs today. There were so many, but I made progress. I'm at the point where I will be playtesting the game now.
