Old thread but just wondered, apart from the author, has anyone here clocked it yet?

Dang, I missed this exchange when it was originally posted!
I would have liked to pick Chris's brain about the tech behind Bewitched - it seems simple, but the screen is 25x32 characters of 8x6 pixels on an unexpanded VIC, and further down the maze there are a lot of little ghosts running around.
Anyone looked into how it was done? I suppose it must use an interrupt every six scan lines, and switch between unique and duplicate maze rows depending on where the ghosts/player/locks are. Quite sophisticated for a period VIC game.
(There's also in-game music but that's relatively easy on the VIC :)

[EDIT] I'd also like to know why the game was made this way. It seems like it would be just as much fun with a 21x24 screen without all the raster tricks...

I just looked at a YouTube video of it. That are just standard 8x8 pixel characters, no raster tricks involved. Maybe you confused it because of the smaller height score line at the top.

Of course, 32 text lines only work nice with PAL ...
