Yes please! Pleeeeease! A revised version of Gorf now!!!
Re: QUIKMAN 2008 for the unexpanded VIC 20
btw, I would also quite enjoy a vocal Gorf. This thread is now an official kickstarter campaign for Gorf. Sorry. Ha

Love GORF (the arcade), so while the Commodore release was cool for its time, there's room for improvement (beyond 'Bite the dust' and 'Bad move, Space Captain'). Did I read somewhere that someone has a working Voice cart in development or available to allow for a more (real-time) voice synthesis experience, beyond Berzerk's WAVE pump into the volume register?

Sorry, found an obscure regression bug upon ascending the 1st key -- I used the wrong register and no key (fruit) appears after level 12.

Robert, there is a Raspberry Pi based Vic20 speech unit that emulates the Votrax Type n Talk. This means it can be used by the Scott Adams cartridges.
It is called Vic Voder.
I have one and so does Jeff and a few other on the forum.

Re: QUIKMAN 2008 for the unexpanded VIC 20
Thanks for the tip, now I'm going to have to squirrel away $$ and get one of those fancy devices.
It might be worth re-doing another revision of Berzerk with Darth Voder talking smack, instead of Evil Otto.
BTW, I consumed 10-more bytes (leaving 2-remaining) to clean up the startup and main user interface as well as redo that pineapple. Seriously, it's got to be done now.
Get it while it's hot!

Will this version be obsolete tomorrow?

I'm just waiting, I'm done updating the version in GB20 currently
(although the link DOES appear to be broken?)

Yes, VIC can! Wait, I don't think that's allowable use in this thread.
Here's a cropped screenshot of an alternate maze running under UME (mess):

I'm shocked someone got Mess to work! I've been trying for over a decade.

Re: QUIKMAN 2008 for the unexpanded VIC 20
C'mon, man. It's a universal machine emulator, you can't expect targeted friendliness that VICE, et al, can offer. But if you're serious in obtaining the not-so-'secret sauce', PM me and I can offer up my methods that provide satisfactory MAME/MESS results from a single source. It's remarkable software engineering, and I find its Commodore 8-bit emulation acceptable and at times frustrating. But happily used it for all Atari 8-bits, ColecoVision, Sega, TI99/4a, and Vectrex alongside spectacular MAME arcade for years. Got to use some working Amiga, Gameboy, IBM PC, TRS80 and CoCo, and Macintosh machines. Like to try out their Intellivision for nostalgia. And I'm hoping their early work on WangPC, DIGITAL Rainbow, and the VTxxx terminals mature to working status.... someone got Mess to work!
BTW, has anyone explored the use of the SHIFT key here? But not with VICE, it usually keymaps them differently. Enjoy!
