Warning - bugged version ahead! It always hangs after a while. See this thread: http://www.sleepingelephant.com/ipw-web ... 063#p70063
Prefer TNT's incarnation instead, even if it lacks game saving feature.

I played HERO quite a bit on the C64 and I agree that it would make a very nice VIC-game. I drooled over magazine reviews of Keystone Kapers and was very envious of Atari 2600 owners. It was never converted to C64 either.

The Pitfall made by Victragic is amazingly well done!
H.E.R.O. was my favourite C64 game - one of the few (along with Pitfall II) that I actually completed!

I'd love to see both of these games converted. I'll also check out the Pitfall conversion you mentioned - thanks.

Cheers,

Mike.

Mike, you won't be disappointed. IMO, this incarnation of Pitfall is a superb port of the arcade, and one of the best games for the VIC, period. Friends are impressed by this (and Popeye, try it BTW), they can't believe it's running on a VIC.

I agree that H.E.R.O. could be the next big thing (similar graphics and gameplay - possible to start from Pitfall's backbone? I'm no programmer, just guessing).

I'm still waiting for H.E.R.O :-)

I'm willing to put some $$$ towards development if that will help things along.

Cheers,

Mike.

A VIC version of H.E.R.O. would be amazing! Let's make it happen!!

I second the popular demand for H.E.R.O. It was one of the first arcade games I played on a TV console (distant relatives' Atari 2600, mid-80's), so it sits in the special "nostalgia room" of my heart.

Hi, haven't been around these parts for a while. I fired up my VIC the other day, and she's still working fine, although one of my C2N's was playing up.

Anyway, just wondering if there has ever been a fighting game like Way of the Exploding Fist or Fighting Warrior for the VIC 20?
I don't recall there being one in the 80s, just wondered if there is one now.
If there isn't one, is this something that could be done? Surely the VIC should have one, even if 32K had to be used?

should be possible, but the blockiness of multicolor mode would make meaningful depiction of kung fu moves challenging.

It's good to know it's possible, so thanks for the info beamrider.

It would be great to see a VIC 20 version of The Way of the Exploding Fist, something that was just considered impossible in the 80s.
Would it be possible with 16K expansion, or would more be required do you think?

I was using my Dragon 32 last night and was playing Chuckie Egg, which was a rather good version, better than the Spectrum actually.

Is there a VIC 20 version? If not, surely we could have a better version than the Dragon?

No Vic-20 version to my knowledge.

I think a Vic-20 port would be of a similar standard albeit with blockier graphics, perhaps the sound would be better. It might even be possible to port the C64 version replacing the level data (for 22 columns) and the sprites with software sprites.

I don't think there is any shortage of games waiting to be ported to the Vic, availability of developers is the bottle neck.

Another program I reckon would help the VIC would be a VIC 20 version of Graphic Adventure Creator, or at least Adventure Creator.
32K should be plenty for it, and could possibly see more adventures written, so watch out Scott!
