This is a little wordy, but here is my take on Demon Attack.
“Marooned on the ice planet Krybor, you watch legions of erie creatures scream overhead. They hover ominously. Attack and destroy them- or be destroyed! Armed with your Laser Cannon, you confront the ultimate challenge: Survive!

...again... Why don't you just play the cart image on your real vic20?

I played this game a couple of times yesterday. Before that I
think I only have played it once. It has really nice graphics.
Looks like multicolor in hires! They are using the raster beam
to change the background color on every line behind the
monsters. So the whole display is inverted and the background is
foreground and the other way around. This way they could use
hires and many colors at the same time for the monsters. And they
can even use 16 colors on them as the background can be set to 16
different colors. Very smart and probably a bit difficult to do.
Watch the monsters and you will see that all of them always are
above eachother, except for the small ones that gets split up
into two that always are at exactly the same hight. Also look
at the shoots when passing closely to a monster. This is all
because of how they are constantly keeping track of the
background color changes all over the screen.
My highest score yesterday was 10885.

Thanks to people's tips etc... I got to play this game yesterday on my real vic as well!
Feels weird playing a cart. game off a floppy though.
The people (or person) who worked on this game did a wicked job.
I really like how they make it feel like there are more than 3 aliens on the screen at a time and all that. Goes to show how much thought was put into this game.

That was probably the first thing I learned on vic20. How to load a "plug-in" game (from tape)! This game is only a 4k cart too, takes only about 11 seconds to load with a diskdrive. Probably about as long as it takes to swap cartridge...vic user wrote: Feels weird playing a cart. game off a floppy though.
