A trip to New Zealand and Australia

Post by RobertBe »

In 9 days I depart for New Zealand and Australia. I’m going to meet Trevor Dickinson of A-EON (maker of the AmigaOne X1000) in Wellington, and
after a few days there, I head for Sydney and look around (taking day tours from Viator.com) and meet any Commodore and Amiga users there. Then it’s off to Adelaide for the September 16 Adelaide Amiga and Retro-Computing Event. I fly down to Melbourne for the September 18 Australian Amiga User Group meeting. I return to Sydney on September 20. Then on September 22, I leave Australia on the return flight back to San Francisco.

Here is my itinerary –

September 1 – Leave San Francisco for Wellington, New Zealand.

September 3 – Arrive in Wellington, NZ. Accommodations provided by Trevor.

September 8 – Depart Wellington and arrive in Sydney. Accommodations at Hotel 59, 59 Bayswater Road, Rushcutters Bay, NSW

September 13 – Depart Sydney and arrive in Adelaide. Accommodations at Jasper Motor Inn, 17 Jasper Street, Hyde Park, SA

September 17 – Depart Adelaide and arrive in Melbourne. Accommodations at Monash Hotel, 2077 Dandenong Road, Clayton, VIC

September 20 – Depart Melbourne and arrive in Sydney. Accommodations at Hotel Ibis Budget St. Peters, 178 Princes Highway, St Peters NSW

I look forward to meeting all good Commodorians and Amigans in my journey. If you are in any of the areas to which I will be traveling, feel free to contact me at my hotels.

Truly,

I have been invited to the September 11 Sydney Amiga Users Group at 9 Oxford Street in Epping.

A few years ago, I had the privilege of welcoming Andrew Wiskow here in Montreal.

Me and his family visited the Planetarium and the Biodome - lots of fun!

The Planetarium has since been completely rebuilt and modernized.

At that time, for reasons I truly know nothing of, Mountain Dew was no longer available in Quebec and he brought me a generous quantity of that soft drink.

@RobertBe
I hope you come and visit us too someday.
Be normal.

As Trevor Dickinson dropped me off at the Wellington Airport yesterday, he confirmed that he is coming to the Adelaide Amiga & Retro-Computing Event on Friday, September 16.

Last night I checked into room 4 of the Jasper Motor Inn in Hyde Park, just about 4 km. from the Adelaide Amiga & Retro-Computing Event venue at Eastwood Community Centre.

After much effort (airport express bus to local train to local bus to walking with a big suitcase several streets in the dark while being led by Monash University computer science students Brendan and Alyssa), I finally made it to the Monash Hotel, room 13.

Last night I arrived at my hotel. The weather is cool, overcast, and at times rainy. No touring today! ;)
