Hi, I host a podcast called Floppy Days about vintage computers. I'm getting ready to cover the Vic-20. I need one or two people who are experts on the machine to help me co-host. Anyone interested? I've tried to contact Jeff Daniels but no luck so far.
Topics:
History
Tech specs
Peripherals
Ads
Software
Magazines
Books
Modern upgrades
Emulation
community
Web Sites
There might be different people who are experts on different topics.
Is there a good place to get the history of the Vic?
It doesn't pay but you could become famous and it will be fun!
Thanks
Randy Kindig

Re: Upcoming podcast on the Vic-20
Hey guys! Randy really needs someone who can be a guest on this show that has more advanced technical knowledge. Someone who can answer questions about the chips, technical revisions, etc. with a little bit of authority.
Ideally it would be great if someone who was involved with Commodore or the VIC-20 development back in the 1980s would assist, but barring that unlikely development, one of you beloved Denial experts (of which we have many) would be a great asset to this show!
I've listened to most of the Floppy Days backlog of podcasts. Randy's got a great show about retro-computing and he's well respected in the circle of retro-podcasters and listeners. He's featured all sorts of vintage computers on his shor, and now it's the VIC-20s turn. We can't let the VIC-20 go poorly represented!
So, please, if you have technical or historical knowledge regarding the VIC, or can suggest someone who would be a good guest, please contact Randy at the link above. I'm sure you won't be the only guest, so don't feel nervous.

If it's any encouragement, I've offered my services - but my technical knowledge is superficial (I can name chips and describe what they do, but can't answer deeper questions about how they work). I'm still hoping others will participate and we can have a nice round-table discussion with Randy about our favourite computer!

Re: Upcoming podcast on the Vic-20
I suggested Mike would be a good candidate...
Tokra, pixel and other good programmers seem like good candidates.

As one who worked on the PET and the VIC-20, CBM engineer Bill Seiler, who came to this year's CommVEx, would make a great guest.ral-clan wrote:...if you have technical or historical knowledge regarding the VIC, or can suggest someone who would be a good guest, please contact Randy at the link above.
