I finally found the programmable character editor program I used endlessly as a kid. It was called "Pixelator" and it is in the October 1982 Compute!
Does anyone have this program? Even a scan of the program listing would be great.

I completely missed this . Thank you for pointing it out, and thanks to the owner R.M. Smedley. It's a real gold mine, and last update is very recent (Aug 20th).
