Re: Coming soon : Zombie Calavera Prologue
The quick jumping and shooting makes it look a little like a zoomed-in Pharaoh's Curse with more distinctive, up to date artwork. Looks like it plays really well too. Very excited about this!

Re: Finished - C16 Kikstart - Vic 20 16K PAL
I knew several kids with a Vic 20, but I was probably unique in that I didn't abandon my Vic when the C64 arrived. I didn't even abandon it when I got my own C64. I continued to swap and buy games for my Vic (I remember getting a C64 game for my Birthday and returning it to the shop and exchanging i...

Re: Finished - C16 Kikstart - Vic 20 16K PAL
'Raid on Isram is superb! (Especially for an unexpanded game.) It was sold as "Skramble!" in Sweden and had slightly different colors and graphics. I think there are even more versions out there from different publishers in Europe and the US. I remmber Tial Trading, who had the publishing ...

Re: Finished - C16 Kikstart - Vic 20 16K PAL
Agree about side scrollers. There are some very fine Scramble clones for the Vic, but all have 1 char scrolling I think. Same with Wunda Walter, which looks really good but would look much better and play even better with smoother scrolling.
Pixel's Pulse is one excellent side scroller though

Re: Pharaoh's Curse
Yes, I was astonished when I found Pharaoh's Curse for the Vic back in 1985. It played just as well as the C64 version (i.e. superbly!) and looked almost as good (i.e. incredible for a Vic 20 game). Only the title screen music was a let down but that was such a minor point that I thought it mostly e...

Re: Finished - C16 Kikstart - Vic 20 16K PAL
Wow! I only knew the C64 game when I was a kid but this C16 version plays very well, and looks and sounds great. Love the title tune and the graphics makes me think of what a mini Ghosts 'n Goblins could look like on the Vic
Re: Spikes
10!
Re: Spikes
Brutally hard! Only got 9 points this far. Lovely to hear snippets of Bubble Bobble on the Vic
Very nice looking title screen and game too.

Agree, the music is among the best I've ever heard on the Vic.

Re: Super Mario Bros for VIC-20
So fetching!
There's just something special about seeing that familiar side-scrolling landscape on a Vic. I get way more itch to play Mario than I get seeing it on the NES. And this really looks alluringly chunky, while still very faithful to the original

Re: Super Mario Bros for VIC-20
I feel obliged to add to the chorus Looks lovely and so fast, smooth and responsive that it sursprisingly enjoyable to just run and jump around. Even a vastly simplified Mario game, looking and feeling like this, would be a very worthwhile Vic game!

Re: Vicsoft Catalogue Winter 83/84
Thanks! I treasure all my old Swedish game and computer catalogues, and some British and US ones as well. But I have never seen this. Very attractive Also a handy reference for the different Software Houses and their offerings.

Re: WIP: Manic Miner port
Well, I died at Eugene's Lair so I can't comment on the later screens yet. I then immediately fired up the C64 version and died on Eugene's Lair again (I had forgotten that Eugene moves down to guard the exit - a splendid example of the neat touches missing in Perils of Willy). Very fascinating to c...

Re: WIP: Manic Miner port
I thought Perils of Willy was a very fine version when it came out, but I agree about the dreary music. Also that the levels are much less visually distinctive and not as well-designed. Overall, it lacks the pleasant atmosphere and almost mystical sense of wonder that Manic Miner provides. And, wow,...

Re: Work in progress: REALMS OF QUEST V
Thanks for the update! I find your persistence and work discipline impressive (and inspiring!) Even though I am not a RPG-guy first and foremost, I find it super exciting to see projects such as this for the Vic 20, Nox Archaist for the Apple II, and Unknown Realm for the C64! Yours will probably be...
