Galaxians by Atarisoft is an example of a multicolour game. It is interesting because "Space Battle" by Commodore is another Galaxians clone in which they've chosen NOT to use multi-colour graphics. It's interesting to see the different approaches to the same game. Space Battle looks great...

It lacks the recording LED and a hole for possible (but again not recommended) azimuth tweaking. The latter can be solved with a drill, but installing a LED may be a bit more work. Either mod would eliminate any collector's value of the recorder though. But I just saw a version of this datasette wi...

As discussed in a C2N thread on Vintage Computer Forum, the original (rare?) rectangular Datasette seems to have come in a few variations regarding cable type as well as colour and design of the recorder itself. Here is mine, having a thick black cable without the ground wire inside the cable. That...

The Australian models had this as well - i never connected it to anything (in one case it actually fell off!) and it worked fine. I always tape this metal wire to the datasette cable so it is not dangling around. I imagine if it were to accidentally slip inside one of the expansion slots on the bac...

Yeah, but don't PAL VIC-20s have more horizontal character rows than NTSC VICs?

That's why I thought this program would be incompatible: some of the lines of the screen would be off the bottom of my NTSC monitor.

Oh yeah, that's the one on the main DENIAL page. But I see the programmer is from Germany, which probably means PAL and not useable on a real NTSC VIC-20....

Custom Character calculator program

Hi, on the main page of DENIAL there is shown sometimes a program that looks like a designer's aid for making custom characters. It has a grid for plotting pixels and then calculates the values for the data statements.

Is there anywhere I can get a program like this that will run on an NTSC VIC-20?

Datasette ground wires.

On most of my Canadian-sold datasettes, there is a little metal grounding wire with a washer-type thingy on the end coming out of the connector. I've never actually hooked it to anything, but I've always wondered just where it was supposed to be attached to? A screw on the bottom of the VIC-20 or ju...

Eee-gad! There is so much to choose from and for a newbie like me it's a bit overwhelming. This produce appears to be the same but the pins sticking out of the bottom have little eyes or hols in them to accept wire for soldering. Seems a better option. http://tinyurl.com/fxa63 ...and then this one (...

Hi, I think I might have found a Canadian / US source for VIC-20 expansion port (Cartridge port) connectors, but I am a newbie so I wonder if one of you techies could make sure this is the right one: http://tinyurl.com/fxa63 ...and the datasheet: http://tinyurl.com/egeh5 If so I am going to order a ...

There are still some good deals to be had on CRT technology. The price versus performance ratio is very good on CRTs right now, whereas for the same picture quality/size you will pay much more for the newer Plasma/LCD/projection displays. Plus, because CRTs are in their (50th? ) generation.......

They use GCR, not MFM. One of the reasons that pc-style controllers cannot read commodore disks.
GCR stands for what? Gap Code Recognition (just a guess  )???

Hey I really enjoyed those interviews! Boray: I am also a music who writes music that is not necessarily mainstream, and not currently having a band to do live gigging I don't really have a venue to sell CDs (although I do use MP3s). I have often thought about trying to get published.....how the hec...
