Re: Robin Hood

Thanks for taking a look. I'd tried it several times and got to the problem gate most attempts, but it always got stuck. I wonder if it's a bad dump, like you said. I'd be surprised if it shipped like that, as it only took me about 3 goes to get that far. Someone must have played it before it was se...

Robin Hood

I've been playing Robin Hood today and once I worked out that Block 5 needs to be write protected I could get past screen one, but on the third time I got to screen two the gate doesn't open. I tried again and the same thing happened. It makes the 'level complete' noise, the people stop appearing an...

I got to level 10, with 7 secrets. I've put a video of it on YouTube.

Re: Cross Shoot V2

It works great for me on my real Vic-20. I didn't really know what I was doing at times (or what things were that I was collecting), but I got to level 5 with 3 secrets. Not being able to move diagonal was the cause of several deaths, and it could do with some extra sound, but it's not bad at all. W...

Re: Two new games for the 8k Expanded Vic - 2022

I've just got back to playing some Vic-20 games, and I've just tried Jovian Moon Lander. I was surprised to hear the digitised speech! An excellent addition :D In this game and the previous one of yours that I played (Monster Maze) you use a very small font for the game title that isn't readable on ...

Re: 11 Vintage games from ALA Software (rare)

I guess this material should deserve a video from one of those Youtubers that follow the VIC20. I'd do that right now if they were PRG or D64 files (I'm currently recording a few things). I put up VIC-20 games on YouTube, but I only do ones from the real thing. I don't think I can use TAP files on ...

Re: Reset switch - will this work?

Thanks everyone for the comments. It works great. I've ordered some blue electrician's tape to make it look neater, and I'll put a "TOP" and "Vic-20 / C64 Reset" label on the top, then it should look half professional. I put some heat shrink round pin 2 to isolate it from everyth...

Reset switch - will this work?

Just before I try this, I think it's probably a good idea just to check that I'm not about to do something really stupid! Years ago I used to sometimes reset my C64 by putting a paperclip across the user port pins 1 and 3 (I think). Yes, dangerous, but I was 12. I also built in a mouse microswitch i...

Re: PAL Fixed Key Quest?

Brilliant! Thanks again. That's tonight's game sorted :-)
I'll probably put a video on YouTube if I can get a decent score.

PAL Fixed Key Quest?

Has anyone ever made a PAL fixed version of Key Quest? It's a great game, (I know at least two of you have an original cart) but it's NTSC, so it's off the left edge. I don't know much about these things, but I expect the screen pos is just a value in some memory location that could be poked in ther...

Re: What size of memory do most VICs have now?

Until four days ago I only had a Vixen 16K cart, but now I have a 35K one, so I'm working my way through all the cartridge games I haven't been able to play, plus any modern 32/35k games or demos.
I should probably get a user port reset button next if I can find one anywhere.

Re: PAL version of Creepy Corridors?

Actually, I just tried it now :-) It works great.

I read somewhere that there was a level 10, but I just did level 9 and it gave me level 9 again. I'll see if I can clear level 9 twice just to make sure.

PAL version of Creepy Corridors?

I've just been trying to play Creepy Corridors, but it looks to be NTSC and unlike other games I can't find a way to move the screen to the centre. Does anyone know of a PAL version, a hacked version, or a way to move the screen? It looks quite good, and if I can get to level 10 I'll stick a video o...

Re: Can anyone explain this PET command?

Thanks for the reply. I've been away, so I've just seen this now.

I've been using 59468,12 or 14, but didn't know about this special text mode. I'll have a look at the link and the other info in the FAQ.
