Re: "smelling the bus activity" [split: FOR SALE: "wireless" JiffyDOS for VIC20 (PAL/NTSC)]

And now a cycle is concluded: The "switchless" JiffyDOS is developed for VIC20, C16, PLUS4, C64C, C64.... All of them are based on the same concept, they work with similar strategies, but each of them has different implementation for matching with their specific machines. The C64 ones (for...

"wireless" JiffyDOS for C64 breadbin (Longboard)

Now I'm proposing a C64 breadbin (Longboard) JiffyDOS with "wireless" solution: it will be sufficient to plug it on kernal ROM socket and it will work without piercing the case and WITHOUT EXTRA WIRES! How to handle switching between kernals? The C64 will boot-up with standard kernal (I pr...

Re: About using Static RAM: the C16 expansion case

The different versions of SARUMAN-TED show that you are a fake. Better to be immature than paranoid, better be direct than fake, better understand than pretend to know, better to be than to pretend to be. You have removed any doubt to those who wondered why another technical forum kicked you out: i...

Re: About using Static RAM: the C16 expansion case

I take this opportunity to focus on the core: "64KxC16" was developed studying the chips specs and then verified on the C16 for matching the WRITE and the READ time specs: the enabling /CAS was shortened only during the WRITE cycle making an ORing R/W with PH0 signal, this guarantees that ...

Re: About using Static RAM: the C16 expansion case

Just got this e-mail: There is a user called MCes on the Plus4World forum. I have noticed before that he is quite aggressive. He has developed some hardware for the C16/Plus4 and attacks anyone who he sees as a rival. Hey! Looks like I'm a member of a select club! :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D Normally I...

Re: About using Static RAM: the C16 expansion case

Yes, the problem is that: one approach can be right, yours one is surely wrong.... My approach, when something doesn't work the way I expect is to check every possibility and every possibly implicated signal... everyone of them. Yes, everyone else but not the original datasheet... And your technica...

Re: About using Static RAM: the C16 expansion case

(..)I approached a technical problem from a different perspective.(..) Yes, the problem is that: one approach can be right, yours one is surely wrong.... But why having a discussion? Real world told us that the SARUMAN-TED that is based on your convincements doesn't work: SARUMAN-TED 1.2 don't work...

Read it: https://www.melon64.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=27&t=9274&p=14547&hilit=ferrari#p14547 "There is something incredibly fishy about the way TED machines access RAM and it causes weird problems." "A genuinely stupid way of working" Your surprise at the oscilloscop...

Re: About using Static RAM: the C16 expansion case

Another time you have demonstrated nothing... FREE(0) doesn't check anything.... try 24h with DIAG264 if the SPECIFIC PLUS4 that has on board the SARUMAN for C64 is working fine, and remember that if it's ok you can only tell: "SARUMAN-C64 work well on PLUS4 NUMBER xxxxx , but nobody can guaran...

Re: About using Static RAM: the C16 expansion case

I had tried another solution using an XNOR gate and an RC high pass filter which shortens ALL access cycles, read or write and it worked too. Of course it's really necessary only with write accesses but if you do both read and write, it'll work just fine too. I read this part of your post only now....

Re: About using Static RAM: the C16 expansion case

Well, I studied this problem with an oscilloscope and a logic analyzer, not just documents from historical datasheets. And you demonstrated to have bad studied/used all of them. Otherwise all your saruman-TED versions was well working, and it's not true. If you check the databus with a logic analyz...

Re: About using Static RAM: the C16 expansion case

Chapter 2

Read "Chaper 1":
for the same reason each S-RAM that uses only / CAS (/ RAS) signals for chip selection cannot correspond to the times of the specifications,
therefore SARUMAN for C64 cannot be used correctly in a PLUS4 as suggested.

About using Static RAM: the C16 expansion case

Chapter 1 I'll try to explain it in simple words, I'll using some exemplification, where it will be possible. Some information is needed about how the 65XX CPUs use the BUS, and I found interesting this link (" How the CPU Interacts With the Outside World "): http://laughtonelectronics.com...

FOR SALE: "wireless" JiffyDOS for C64C (shortboard)
