Likewise, the mod can also be done on a 2-prong VIC-20. Instead of two 6116 chips, six 2114 chips are piggy-backed on the existing ones, and directly selected with UC4. U13 is not present in the 2-prong main board. I have an spare 2-prong NTSC VIC and 6 static ram chips. I'm still a little unclear ...

Re: Vic-20 Coffee Mug

Normally, I wouldn't post about something this lame, but the design of this particular mug seems worthy of everyone's attention: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&Item=190507369667 I ordered one with my name on it and got it today. Very nice quality, and packed well for its trip o...

Re: Vic20 tape magazines?

Just acquired a few tapes called "Fox 20 - the magazine for Vic20 users" from 1983, and a couple labelled "20 Load". Anyone know anything about them? Currently trying to transfer them digitally for preservation... http://www.bombjack.org/commodore/newsletters/vixen-fox-20/vixen-...

found a pic of Al Charpentier

I came across a picture of Al Charpentier yesterday if anyone is interested in putting a face to a name. For those who do not know or don't remember, he created our beloved video interface chip in 1977 at MOS Technologies in Valley Forge. http://switch2mac.blog.zive.cz/files/2010/04/albert_charpenti...

Re: VIC 102 signal?

1. What is the VIC 102 signal? Something like the 710 cover just flashed through my mind. ;) As Kananga wrote, this is the I/O 2 signal on the expansion port. It decodes the address range of $9800 to $9BFF. 2. For Scott Adams adventures, can one write an ML routine to passively route Votrax phoneme...

Good work! Why not send the PDFs over to DLH so he can add them to his Commodore documnets archive ? He'll be happy to host them, I'm sure. Imo it's better to have all documents in one place. Yes, and DLH also puts the entire set of documents on DVD for anyone who wants them, well worth having ever...

new documents posted online

This has kind of been an important weekend for archiving some of the hardware documents which have remained quite allusive online to date: SPEAKEASY-C / PROTECTO ENTERPRIZES VOICE SYNTHESIZER Speakeasy Installation and Operations Manual v1.2 http://www.scribd.com/full/50159956?access_key=key-g3rw7uz...

VIC 102 signal?

SPEAKEASY uses the 1K block of address space decoded by the VIC 102 signal. SPEAKEASY will not conflict with your expanded memoryboard or with your game cartridge. SPEAKEASY will not conflict withany other device unless that device also uses 102. http://www.scribd.com/full/50159956?access_key=key-g...

I bought a NIC w/ RS232C. Just waiting on V1541 software for VIC. Nice guy Greg. If you buy one be sure to have him set it to 1200 baud for VIC-20 before sending it out.
