Running Unexpanded Games with 16k
Assuming I have a 16k RAM cartridge plugged into my VIC, is there a way I can rearrange memory so that I can run games made for the unexpanded VIC without removing the cartridge. I know that the start of BASIC, screen, and color memory get moved when the VIC is expanded to 16k. I was wondering thoug...

Re: My Vic's alive!!!
Congratulations on your hard won victory! I can tell you as someone who has recently gotten into the VIC, that programming and gaming on the real hardware is absolutely amazing. I hope you have a blast.

Re: Custom Character Questions
Thanks for the reply. which will delete all variables and therefore set 52/53 (the bottom of strings) to the top of free memory. I had a hunch that was what was going on. Thanks for clearing it up. On a side note, when I started doing research on custom characters, I noticed that 52 is setup in the ...

Custom Character Questions
Hi everyone. I have a few questions about setting up custom characters that I was hoping you guys could clear up. In the old books and magazines, most folks setup 52 and 56, and then CLR to protect the memory used by their characters. From what I've read on the forums, setting 52 is not necessary, a...

Recommend a Game
I was wondering if you good folks here could recommend some fun games that: 1. Are for the unexpanded VIC 2. Are written entirely in BASIC 3. Can be played without a joystick Part of my learning BASIC project has been typing in games and then figuring out how they work. So far I've been through the ...

Re: Wrong Colors
That's what I figured . No problem though. I just wanted to make sure. I'll just hook her up with the RCA cables to the other TV for now.
Thanks .
Thanks .

Wrong Colors
Hi everyone. I just had a chance to test out a VIC-20 I received in the mail that is in great shape. However, when I plug it into a CRT TV I have using the RF modulator that came with it, I have some issues. At first, the picture is snowy. Then the picture comes in clear, but the border is red, the ...

Re: Datasette Questions
Thanks for the info guys. I plan to use my VIC more for programming then gaming, so a setup that caters to just loading programs would be insufficient. I'm still pretty tempted though to use just a datasette for a more authentic experience... but, I suppose I need to think it over some more. The way...

Datasette Questions
Hi everyone. This is my first post here. I just won my new (to me) VIC-20 off of Ebay recently and can't wait to get into to it. However, I'm still not sure whether I'm going to use a datasette and cassette tapes, or an SD2IEC for storage. Supposing that I did decide to get a datasette, I'd like to ...
