Re: Is Vic-20 = THE least powerful computer in history?

I just voted "No".

To comply with the request to list what I believe IS the least powerful computer, I also have to vote for the Sinclair ZX81.

I almost said "Mattel Aquarius"! I still want to say it!

Re: Micronaut figure for VIC-20 stuff?

Yes!

I had an orange Time Traveler and he was in a blue sarcophagus!

I had a couple of the big Shoguns, too!

Man, those were the days...

Re: 6560-101 chips needed

Check with some of those component brokering sites, like http://www.seekic.com or similar. I got 20 brand new VIC chips for $2.80 each from a Chinese surplus dealer and 8 more from Thailand for $1.80 each earlier this year! BTW, I'm the guy who announced on the forum that I'd share, but due to my cr...

Absolutely! What people used to refer to as "old junk" is now "retro".

If only more people had felt that way 20 years ago, when they were throwing their 8-bit machines into dumpsters... :(

It certainly was a lot of fun to play with at our Sunday meeting and I will be purchasing one, myself (at some point). There will be a VIC-20 with the VIC-VODER hooked up to it at CommVEx this weekend and we'll have The Count, Adventure Land and Pirate's Cove plugged in to the Cardboard-6 for all to...

Yeah... I remember seeing just about everything BUT VIC's in the school districts in Santa Cruz County (California, USA)... Apple ][ series, Macs, C=64's, Amigas, 8-bit Ataris, even a couple of TRaSh-80's back in the day. If we had VIC's in BASIC class, instead of those abismal Apple machines, I mig...

My son and I both have VIC-20's... he plays games and wants to learn to program it. I play games and don't even know where to begin with the programming thing.

Ah, well... that's what summertime is for! 8)

Hmm... it couldn't hurt switching out the 6502. It did originally come with a 6502-A, so if it burned out, someone, somewhere may have replaced it with the 6502-B from an 8-bit Atari. They are nearly identical and are even pin compatable, but the 6502-B has a HALT line for the Atari's ANTIC graphics...

One thing that comes to mind is that older cable signals were 75ohm and modern RF on TV's use 300ohms.

I'd stick with the composite, anyway... cleaner signal and clearer picture/sound than RF.

I remember that thread... I know the Intellivision's controllers weren't exactly friendly to anyone, but I think with the countless hours I spent on them has tainted me a bit into thinking that they weren't that bad. Not comfortable, for sure, but a multidirectional disc (possibly evolved into the D...

It turns out that the Y-cable I had with the old TI is an Atari joystick adapter/adaptor... which is right? I always thought "adaptor" was correct, but now I see that "adapter" is also acceptable. Anyhow, yes, I plugged in a freshly rebuilt Atari CX-40 joystick (the basic black o...

Does anyone know where I can get an Atari joystick adapter for the old TI? I have seen plans to build these on the web, but I am not too handy with a soldering iron and would prefer to buy one made by a professional. I'm going to hook it up again tonight and mess with it and I have a Y-cable that's ...
