Vice monitor and zero pages
Hi, does anyone use the inbuilt monitor with VICE for programming? I'm trying to work out how to absolutely address a zero page location.. when I enter an instruction such as A 2000 LDA $00FC ..such as I would do with VICmon.. the monitor will completely ignore the first half of the address and chan...

Good idea
Yep, good idea..
RF modulator not absolutely necessary - just a working PAL VIC would be fine, preferably with power supply.
Probably would get less interference from using a composite/SCART cable anyway.. from memory the VIC RF modulator produced a LOT of noise..

PAL Vic20 and Commodore cartridges
Memories of owning a PAL VIC20 and loads of Commodore cartridges! Almost all of them (specifically those that used a non-standard screen size) required 'centering' by using either the joystick or cursor keys before running the game.. and I'd remember by heart the number of 'right' and 'down' I'd nee...

Amazing
This is exactly the sort of project I was hoping to find someone working on in rediscovering my interest in VIC 20s recently.. It's a very impressive result, and I'll say the 'Commando' soundtrack is spot on as well.. I guess it's possible to get the valiant VIC-I to emulate anything.. (but obviousl...

Oops
Thanks for the replies and confirming what I thought. Perhaps I was being overly ambitious with the colours I was choosing to combine. You mean every 1/50 of a second, right? Oops, yes of course, 1/50 is PAL, 1/60 is NTSC, so specifically alternating for every second frame 1/25 for PAL... Dud result...

enhanced/expanded colour on a VIC20
Hi all, I can recall on the Commodore 64 towards the end of it's life, there were games that used an advanced colour technique called 'expanded' or 'enhanced' colour (I cannot recall which, I know one is a built-in feature on the 64, the other not). This was visible in such programs as Creatures, Ma...

VIC 20 Spotting
I always find it amusing to find old PCs in old videos - just confirms that the whole thing wasn't a mass hallucination! My find - in the BBC series of 'Not the Nine O'Clock News' in some of the news readings, the background is running what has to be the VIC20 'random' reversed character screen fill...

Re: Elite for Vic20
The only true vector graphics game I can think of on the Amiga (i.e. true vector graphics rather than simulated bitmapped ones like Omega Race) is BLACK HOLE. Yes, I think even Battlezone cheated with the graphics.. and the graphics in Black Hole are rather jerky at best.. so perhaps I take it back...

Elite for Vic20
Hi all, first time post, so I'm fresh faced.. I recently started messing around with VICE, aproximately 20 years after I got rid of my first VIC20.. I did buy a second machine circa 1993, but unfortunately the power supply burned out rather quickly, so it ended up in the trash. Pity, as I thought I ...
