My research tells me I need an SD2IEC unit ...but there are a few variants ..
So which one ?
Is there possibly one that does ALL Commodore computers ?
or is it only anything VIC20 or later ..and do they all support a second physical floppy drive ?

Re: Complete VICE Newbie needs help
So ..I'm imagining the setup being ..for example a VIC20 with a 1540 attached .. the second serial port on the 1540 attached to an SD hardware drive type device .. thus the 1540 is device 8 ...the SD floppy is device 9 ...and hopefully I'm now able to copy the entire contents of device 8 to device 9...

Re: TAP files an the PET
There is a version here http://www.classic-computers.org.nz/blog/2011-02-27-pet-programs-for-download.htm that loads, but crashes after the 1st screen. Using FinalTap you can extract the PRG. You need to correct the header in a HEX editor from 01 08 to 01 04 to get it to run (still crashes in VICE)...

Re: My PET 4032 is dead
Very few of the keys were working ...
took about 2 hours to strip it down and clean everything ..and wipe over the keyboard contacts with iso alcohol..
But the KB is like new now..
Another job done.

So what were the chances ? ...I figured it was more likely that one of the supply rails to memory was down .. ..and ...

Naked C64 cartridges
So whilst waiting to get my PET repaired I thought I'd sort through some other Commodore bits n pieces ..and came accross these 2 naked cartridge pcbs .. I guess I'd like to populate them again ..but aside from the logic chips I need the code Roms or Eproms .. The one on the left is obviously a Fina...

Re: My PET 4032 is dead
Been in touch with Dave Curran at Tynemouth software ... I have on order a combined Rom/Ram chip that plugs into the cpu socket .. and also a diagnostics chip ... both are his own design ..and should enable me to either diagnose and fix the PET or just ..substitute thereby fixing.. I'll let you know...

Re: My PET 4032 is dead
Thanks Norm .. There are 16 x 4116 chips on my mobo ..half of which are socketed ..so these 8 will be easily swapped ...and I might well socket the other 8 ... If I still dont get a result then I will check out those links.. There are also 2 x 2114 chips.. Display/screen memory perhaps ? What would ...

Re: My PET 4032 is dead
@ViperSan I strongly suspect every time you start up your PET to check it, you cause even more damage or run the chance thereof. I know of only 2 people who can fix PET computers. These are Ray Carlsen and Jean-Claude Lachapelle. Well ...looking at the board it is indeed a very chip populated board...
