 Got me!... And the 1st of April has passed already. We're usually ahead of the world when it comes to time. I guess not this time.

I've still got some of my original books, but didn't realise how many there actually were. I've since started trying to build up my collection. I don't know what it is about those Usborne books that makes them so attractive. The games are nothing special, but the artwork of the books seems to stimul...

Replacement VIC Chip

Is there any source of replacement VIC chips MOS 6561 (PAL B) other than from another VIC-20? I just diagnosed my non-working VIC-20 as needing a new VIC chip.

Anyone have a spare that they'd part with?

Nice Game. :D
I can see a challenge coming up here. I'll have to get ViColumns running on my real VIC to ensure that I'm playing at the correct speed, and try again.

I've been lurking here for a good 6 months now, and finally started getting into the VIC-20 more. Most of my computer time has been spent on 8-bit Atari. I never had a VIC when they were new. My first computer was an Atari 400. I was always envious of my friends keyboard. :( My interest in VICs is p...

As you can see, the following code is more than your regular "Hello World" program, but even so, it created a 3k .prg file. This make using string.h and conio.h unrealistic for an unexpanded VIC. I don't have a basic compiler, so I can't compare that. I'll have to come up with a VIC specif...

MacbthPSW, the code bulk you are refering to, is that the conio library, or are you refering to the routines added for the C stack handling. I've been using CC65/CA65 on the Atari. So far the only thing I've done for the VIC-20 is the "Hello World". BTW, excuse my ignorance, but which game...

Programming VIC-20 with CC65

Hi,

I'd be interested to know how many people are using CC65 for programming the VIC-20.

I know that the code that it produces doesn't match hand coded assembly, but how does it compare to BASIC code regarding size and speed?

I recently bought something very similar here in Oz. Except that the case is different (squarer) and it only has 30 games. I couldn't pass it up for AU$23. Amazing value-for-money.

It's a cheap alternative to my GBA SP.

It's fun, but some of the games are hard on the small screen.

Hi TMR,

When I saw the entry in your BLOG, I thought I better give this game a try. It was great. At first I thought it was a bit too easy...then it REALLY got going.

58520 on my first game. :)

Cheers,
Mike
