Re: Vic weather station

Hi everyone. New to the board and I know this is an old thread, but I was doing some searching and ran across it and couldn't resist replying. For sure not vaporware, as I have one. No idea if it still works as it has been sitting on a shelf for 20+ years in my basement. Great to see it exist. If I...

Re: More questions!

srowe's link gives the answer: NTSC machines have a 14.31818 MHz crystal oscillator, which gets divided by 14 to produce the 1.022727 MHz clock while on PAL machines it's a 17.734475 MHz crystal divided by 16 to give a 1.108404 MHz clock. These odd frequencies are required for the colour burst sign...

Re: More questions!

The 555 holds the reset line low for a period of time upon power up for voltages to stabilize. I figured that it wasn't the clock, it was just a wild guess. Then where is the 1Mhz clock? Thanks for the responses, it helps me a lot. I don't know how well high school students will appreciate it, but ...

Re: 1541 Read error

I do have a C64, but no SD2IEC.
You see it came down to buying an oscilloscope or an SD2IEC. Well one is more useful, I'll let you decide. Just a matter of priorities.

More questions!

Hello everyone I don't' know if this is the right place to put this. More questions! I'm going to be teaching a short class on 1980's computers. I'm mostly showing a demonstration, but I've been asked to talk a little bit about the internals. Here's what I know so far. If I have anything wrong is wr...

Re: 1541 Read error

Reviving my own topic here...

I tried aligning my drive today. I got this and I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong. The probes are attached to UF4 pin 7,8. Any advice?
Sorry for the blurry pictures.

Re: WIP: Manic Miner port

The reason why we still run NTSC television signals in the US is because it's so great we don't need to replace it.

(Just kidding where I live I don't even get internet (except dial up). Every time I travel to Europe I'm amazed at all the great stuff there is over there)

Re: Imagine if Commodore

Good advice. But if for some reason you have to (like availability), I recommend using eBay because you can file a claim if there is an issue and the buyer always wins. I once got a RIOT chip for a Atari 2600 from a Chinese seller and it was the real thing. Also got a great deal on a couple authent...
