Re: GeoRAM on the Vic20

They surely have to map in a new 256-byte window whenever there is another sub-routine call. Including a small call stub that's present in all of these pages.
its much more of a stunt :) what you say would have been the sane way to create the software for it =)

Re: High density

i'm just a silly programmer who has no clue of this electronic wizardry, but perhaps its still true that there is a direct relation between voltage and current, and since we can assume the resistance of the windings does not change there wont be excessive current when the voltage is fine. AFAIK, the...

Re: GeoRAM on the Vic20

btw, if you are curious to see software that runs entirely in such 256byte window - check the ISEPIC software. the cartridge works pretty similar regarding RAM mapping - only the bank switching is a lot more weird =)

Re: Paddlescope

Uhoh, hopefully just a random quirk and nothing to do with the Micromys?
the micromys shouldnt be able to kill it... its just old ICs i think, and also the vic20 i have here is generally a bit quirky. no idea what happened there

Re: VICE - Write to Cart Image Possible?

just enable RAM in block5, then load the cartridge binary as a regular .prg (ie NOT "attach cartridge" - which will always use ROM)

Re: IRQ / VBL / trackloader

what loader is it that you are using? generally for a demo type of thing, you need a "irq loader" which will work even if an irq is running (and then you just do it, you dont have to switch to original irq when running or whatever). on the other hand when using a "normal" loader,...

Re: Paddlescope

urks. now the VIC died on me while testing :( its defective in an interesting way though: when POT1 is turned to almost "0", the video output will be garbled, as if memory fetches dont work properly anymore. that kinda supports the theory that paddles are somehow related to the video outpu...

Re: Imagine if Commodore

"Anyone" can make one themselves now, PAL version at least also the NTSC version - just use the script to rebuild the cartridge image (actually one of the two dump comes from an NTSC version, i dont remember which). the differences are probably due to a bit of hex editing, as you noticed :)
