Excuse my ignorance, but is this a well known and used Basic extention? Can you point me to any programs that are written in Exbasic? I thought it was yet another of those obscure extentions with a nice set of commands, now revived for improved performance and possible future use.

How about any undocumented op-codes? I realize very few VIC-20 programs may use those, but beware if you find one that does but which the new CPU doesn't support.

Wilson, that is funny since a lot of people tend to express how VIC-20's can get expensive on eBay etc. Granted there are much fewer VIC's than there are C64's out there, in particular if you consider the C64C which are many enough for every man and his dog to have one each. I have bought a few loos...

My big brother bought his VIC-20 in February 1984. I don't remember how long it took before he sold it to me and upgraded to a C64, but it should've been in late 1985.

Regarding Jim's expander, I also noticed this and wonder if it will work in conjuction with his MasC=uerade. Obviously it wouldn't help us VIC-20 people since our VIC carts won't fit into C64 slots anyway. For a second I thought they would but obviously I had a brain fart.

DIP switches? In any case, you want an expander that selects one cartridge at a time, not one where all slots are active at the same time. I have a VIC-1005 (three slot expander from Commodore/Datatronic) and can say as much as it does NOT work to run the Mega-Cart and my IEEE-488 interface simultan...

I used to be more critical to Windows ten years ago than I am today. Back then I was still struggling with my old Amiga, had terrible memories of Windows 3.1 and 95 and saw Microsoft had a long way to go. But as far as I can tell, since Windows 2000 and forwards it pretty much has been a stable prod...

Then again, just because you're an expert at doing something doesn't have to mean you enjoy doing it a lot, much more than you otherwise would have need to do. That is a comment on package manager vs manually getting all the mundane software you need, or even compile everything from scratch as you go.

Previously I've read that Bandits does not work on VICE in NTSC mode due to a known but not yet solved bug about timing, something that also can affect the C64 emulation. Perhaps what you found in the source is some kind of workaround that will cover most cases? We'd better watch out so this topic d...

Like if you are in a room full of sexy women, you don't want them all to be green. Likewise if the view is an ocean, red and purple may not be the first combination to use. Now, I'm not aware of any graphical text adventure that combines these two scenes, but one could always write a new one. Perhap...

As a matter of fact, if you happen to have Microsoft Office installed (not sure about your religion), chances are that you have an add-on called "Document Imaging". You may need to convert the PDF to images of a certain format (TIFF comes to my mind), but this Imaging program does fairly g...

Those speech synthesis cartridges have been discussed several times on Denial, without making any real conclusions. Perhaps different screens could use different combinations of colour? At least one of those should be the auxillary colour register that you could change once per raster line if you need to. I don't know how MINIGRAFIK works, if you have white background and black border on all of those images?

Cool! I am in the middle of developing a similar, but far from identical game. Hopefully it won't look like I'm copying your work since I begun the development a year ago. However I'm tempted to switch over to the software sprite library, and since my game will be similar to yours, it is likely I ca...
