I doubt it's the Wimodem. I've used it on 3 different Vics without any issue. One time I left one on for 24 hours with the Wimodem and no problems. With a single atmega328p etc. you can directly connect a ps2 keyboard, ntsc monitor, all IO is built in - digital, analog, UART(serial),PWM, SPI, TWI. All for 2 dollars from ebay. But with that said this is a Vic-20 board and I love to do new things with my Vics.

That's cool, but not practical now a days. Why use a whole Vic-20 when a $2 Arduino pro mini will do? Maybe for nostalgia.

I believe it's somewhat rare..But a value would be determined by it's sale at this point. Generally, "learning" games don't do as well as other rare games. I'd put it up on ebay and see what happens since you don't collect them.

Well, the bit shifting bug was fixed in the W65C22N and AFAIK, SD cards do support serial transfers. Perhaps if you replace the VIA responsible for the user port PB lines with one of these, you could directly access an SD card from the VIC-20.
