Re: Power Supply Problem and not Powering Up

The power supply connector on the motherboard may have come loose and have to be re-soldered. I have seen this happen.

Re: Combining my Vics to make a good one?

I doubt it's the Wimodem. I've used it on 3 different Vics without any issue. One time I left one on for 24 hours with the Wimodem and no problems. On the other hand, all of my VICs are fully refurbished and heat sinked. I also use modern safe power supplies. I think yours just have age-related issu...

Re: Interface system for controlling operant chambers

With a single atmega328p etc. you can directly connect a ps2 keyboard, ntsc monitor, all IO is built in - digital, analog, UART(serial),PWM, SPI, TWI. All for 2 dollars from ebay. But with that said this is a Vic-20 board and I love to do new things with my Vics. :D

Re: Interface system for controlling operant chambers

That's cool, but not practical now a days. Why use a whole Vic-20 when a $2 Arduino pro mini will do? Maybe for nostalgia.

Re: Romox Typo

I believe it's somewhat rare..But a value would be determined by it's sale at this point. Generally, "learning" games don't do as well as other rare games. I'd put it up on ebay and see what happens since you don't collect them.

Re: WTB - 2 prong power supply in the UK.

In my experience with the two pronged Vic, you need to supply a minimum of 10V if using a DC supply to account for the voltage drop of the rectifiers in the Vic-20. 9V will barely be at the required 7.5V at the 5V regulator input. It may seem to work, but I have ran into freeze-ups and crashes when ...

Re: Release: CBC News App (RSS Reader)

I have tried this and I like it a lot, but when I leave it running in kiosk mode it always eventually disconnects/stops. If I check the modem, it's disconnected. Not sure whats going on. I have the latest modem firmware. (1.7). I used the modem on some BBSs and it works great at 2400, but when I use...

Re: What do you love or hate about the VIC-20?

Well, the bit shifting bug was fixed in the W65C22N and AFAIK, SD cards do support serial transfers. Perhaps if you replace the VIA responsible for the user port PB lines with one of these, you could directly access an SD card from the VIC-20. Just thought Id throw this out there regarding serial S...
