Just a short correction: it's Opel, not Opal, from a german car engineer and later car brand name :-)
I believe the name was Ferdinand Opel - but to be honest this is totally irrelevant to the thread ;-)
Sorry, couldn't resist...

For free...

Hi to all, I have 4 "datasette" drives (2x turbo corder, 1x old, sharp edged, not rounded original c2n and 1x Manta data recorder). If someone is interested, I would sent them for free, otherwise I will throw them away, have no use for them... And I have one C128 (the all-in-one "amig...

Slot Expander and 40/80 card wanted

Hi, since some time I'm looking for a slot expander (or even VIC 1020) and cannot find anything on eBay. Just today I was overbidden on an auction with a VIC and a 3 Slot Expander :-( And a 40/80 column card is not even in sight... So if anyone has something to sell, please tell me - I'm willing to ...

Very nice summary! I just bought one C16 with 64kRAM Expansion on eBay (for 3.06 Euro including datasette!, Postage is 7.00 Euro - lol) and am eagerly waiting for this machine. As you wrote, I think the C16/116/Plus4 is (in relation to sound and graphics) more built towards VIC20 then C64, that is i...

Funny thing is, the ? is translated to PRINt on saving CBM basic file :-) Nothing else but this one... It's not on the fly translated because in this case I would need to parse each line on entry which would collide with my 'label basic' feature in the moment. I will think about this a little more, ...

New version online, fixed some issues with load/save. Now BasEdit tries to keep CBM basic file and textversion in sync, allways trying to save and load both of them. New flag for indication if line numbers or labels are used, when saving a program with labels will automatically be saved as ascii ver...

Just another little bugfix - made an error reading in the KeyMap.txt which resulted in not working keys (shift-cursorkeys for example). Additionally I added a small feature: One can now Squeeze a program file which is labalized, i.e. has no line numbers. BasEdit will try to squeeze as many commands ...

C64 has a more bold character set compared to VIC, but the otherwise the symbols are equivalent.

In small font the C64 font is more readable, maybe I will implement different fonts for different sizes...

Ups, little mistake in my config routines, please grab newest version.

In this I put some examples for alternate character sets (VIC20 and C64) so even the C64 fans can now type with their standard font :-)

Ok, new version is uploaded. With this version you have a BasEdit.Ini for some basic configuration issues (like wich chargen file to use, exchangeable bitmap files for character set etc.) and an optional KeyMap.txt in which you can change scancode to character translation. To change Y and Z keys, ju...

I have always the BasEdit and Vice open and use the following strategy: 1. Edit in BasEdit 2. Save program 3. Load in Vice 4. Run 5. In case of error back to 1 :-) This works very smooth, only nuisance is to type load "file",8 every time in emulated vic, maybe I make a little program to pu...
