Re: Paddle Games
added Space Snake and Star Post to that list... tokra: try replacing the two existing caps. perhaps try larger values (two or three times as much or so). adding one near the VIC may help too. what you can also try is adding a cap in parallel to the poti inside the paddle (in fact, some paddles alrea...

Re: Cartridge designs released - Eagle PCBs
two possible reasons:If that's true I wonder why Commodore didn't do it that way? Maybe they had a ton of stock to get rid of or something.
1) they can produce the ICs themselves and then they are very cheap
2) ICs could be machine picked/placed and soldered - that makes the production cheaper

Re: 1541 Read error
You didn't include a quote of what you were answering to... you can safely assume that if someone doesnt explicitly quote ... then he is directly answering to the previous post in the thread. This site mentions a method with an alignment disk or commercially prepared. I guess that could be any boug...

Re: 1541 Read error
I was never able to format a 5.25" floppy disk in a 1541. Some people reported it caused the destruction of the R/W of the drive when they tried repeatedly. WAT. you are not making any sense. and i was referring to the supposed difference of SD and DD disks - not DD vs HD, which we all know is...

Re: 1541 Error
alignment issues can be ruled out quite easily - only (and ONLY) when formatting/saving/loading on the same drive works, but loading factory made disks ("original disks") does not, then it is an alignment issue. when you get random problems even with disks written on that drive, then align...

Re: 1541 Error
afaik there is no difference in the material, so that would be really odd (and isnt it a 1541 compatible drive?)

Re: Paddle Games
necroing this thread - i am also looking for a couple games that support the paddles the C64 has about two dozens, i would expect the VIC having at least as many, if not more perhaps - can you name some, and perhaps even provide a link for download? that would be awesome!

Re: BASIC 3.5 on a VIC?
since token lookup basically translates to a table lookup, more instructions only mean using a bigger table - the speed difference is negligible. what makes it slow on C128 is the bank switching being done all the time.

Re: Ultimem or Final Expansion?
I don't buy this. The EF can also replace the C64 KERNAL, something no external cartridge on the VIC-20 will ever be capable of. nope :) the EF is a simple banked cartridge with 1MB ROM. the EF3 can replace the kernal as an extra feature, however that is something none of the easyflash releases mak...
