Re: Unknown Stack cartridge

I suppose RAM exapnsions aren't worth much, but I guess they have a use because they can be gutted for spare parts in case my VIC's memory blows.

Re: Unknown Stack cartridge

My curiosity got the better of me, so I opened the cart shell. There's no ROM in there. So it's only just a RAM expansion with a cart pass-through port? Seems like a lot of chips for just 3K extra. Looks a bit like the Stack Storeboard: http://www.computinghistory.org.uk/det/41516/Stack-Storeboard/ ...

Re: Unknown Stack cartridge

I did some searching around for information on these carts.
I have at least determined that it is not Vickit 2.

SYS 45056 does nothing.

Unknown Stack cartridge

Found this Vic-20 cartridge the other day. It's got a STACK label on the bottom, but I have no idea what it is or does. All I know is that STACK had a bunch of utility cartridges, of which this is probably one of them. Plugging it into my VIC-20 displays that the available BASIC RAM has increased to...

After starting the program there was only about 100 bytes more than before.
Still, with some compression it might be possible to slip another sound effect in there... but that's about all you could squeeze in I think.

Found it on gazette disk 1985-08

Yes, it does a basic compact on the listing. Saves a whole 3 blocks of disk space.
Not really worth it.

Re: New Release: Telengard (for the Vic-20 +24K)

Is there a cruncher for the VIC-20? I have a cruncher for the C64 and have been pleased with it for many years. I know there are BASIC compactors for the C64... but they choke on VIC-20 programs because the start address of the program for the VIC is not accepted. As for BASIC compiling, Austrocomp...

Re: Why still use tape?

Gyrospeed is my tape turbo of choice on the 64.
Accepts files up to 202 blocks and it what it saves autostarts without having to load a separate program.
The largest programs don't go beyond 43 on the counter.

Not sure if there's anything comparable on the vic

Re: VIC 20 Emulators list

The Vic-20 core on the chameleon lacks disk emulation. However, the mega-cart image is supported, so all the cart games and other titles on board can be played. Additionally you can boot the vic from it with various RAM configurations.... but you can't save anything to disk obviously. At least not w...

Re: New Release: Telengard (for the Vic-20 +24K)

Yeah, I was just curious about what would happen if it was basic compiled. Basic compression could have been interesting though, but messing with the listing structure would make it harder to compare it with the original listing. I'm happy enough with the way it came out. Interestingly the Atari ver...

One question though.... which tool can you use to BASIC compile a VIC listing this big?
VIC Austro-comp chokes on this listing

Re: New Release: Telengard (for the Vic-20 +24K)

I just tried on VICE, running at PAL 100%. I found the text flashed up too fast to read. Some of it will, just as the C64/PET version does. If it flashes so quick that it's completely illegible, then let me know what part does. The game is played in "real time" so it will keep things movi...
