I had an idea to clone some of my CBM-II cases (ya, they're BIG)... Anyway, after some searching I came across this site: http://www.smooth-on.com/Prototyping-and-In/c1238/index.html Anyone look into something like that? I think you can clone almost anything within reason. There were too many option...

I always wondered why Commodore never made a colour PET based on the 6545... seems like only a few extra parts. They did, the C128. Just have a look how the registers are organized and you'll see what I meean. The problem with the 6845 is the way it addresses its memory, which makes it almost impos...

About 3 years ago I built a 6545 based CRT controller (40/80 col display, ega interface, 16 foreground colours, 16 background colours, & 16k video ram). http://sleepingelephant.com/ipw-web/bulletin/bb/viewtopic.php?t=388&postdays=0&postorder=asc&start=15 I was thinking of connecting...

At least if you have a TV card in your PC you should be able to connect your VIC-20 to that one and then display the captured image on the monitor. I've read about a guy who does so, having a secondary PC entirely for video capture. A bit impractical perhaps, but it works. I believe there are stand...

Hi Steve, nice collection there. I think have a curvy pet of some sort like that too. The P500 will be going to the best Vic20 swap on here. So far a megacart and some Vic carts are bid. You have a high-profile CBM-II like the 700 series, or are you refering to the 8032-SK/8296 PETs?? Sadly, I have...

Re: P500 Colour Pet prototype for Sale

If you are on the forums you probably know what this is. Have a look on Secret Weapons of commodore or Google if not. I have a working P500 with scart lead correctly wired so as not to blow it up. It is in the UK and will be available to be collected in October or can be posted. Is this of any inte...

I guess that is what I am asking....is the size of the phosphors, or beam, or whatever in a security monitor fine enough to make 80 column text sharp enough to read? I've tried using the 80 column board on a 1701/02 monitor in 80 column mode, and it's viewable but just too fuzzy to use for serious ...

Re: Is a security camera monitor good enough to do 80 column

I sometimes see black & white security camera monitors for sale at Thrift stores. They are very simple, heavy duty, and have a composite or BNC video input. I wonder if they have sharp enough resolution to use as an 80-column monitor for retro-computing. I'm thinking with a VIC-20 using an 80 c...

Hey, I can bring a Plus/4 with "1551" drive to the January meeting if anyone is interested.

No. The last Plus 4's (regular) I bought on ebay for $10. I think the main problem here is one of morals. If you offer something publicly for $5 and you get sincere responses to purchase, then the right thing to do is sell it to the first person to offer what "you asked for". If you wante...

Hey, I offered to buy the machine on Lemon64 (as I saw the message there first). What's up? Is it still available? A gentleman from Austria offered me 100$ for it. Are you willing to beat this offer? No. The last Plus 4's (regular) I bought on ebay for $10. I think the main problem here is one of m...

What makes it "ultra rare"? The canadian version with the +4 logotype is extremely rare. Most models found throughout the world say Plus/4 on them. Hey, I offered to buy the machine on Lemon64 (as I saw the message there first). What's up? Is it still available? I'm not sure about the rar...

VIC replacement/enhanced motherboard

Hi, My first post here! A while ago I saw a site where the author mentioned a replacement motherboard for the VIC offering enhanced features. http://www.commodoretalk.com/ Also, he mentioned making replacement plastic parts like cartridges, keys etc. I tried contacting the guy for more info but got ...
