Re: Jeff's VIC 20 Book

I don't call BASIC routines as much as KERNAL ones, they don't seem to have as clean an interface. There's more state to describe (FAC, other zero page) so it's harder to summarize in a simple way. This is an issue of debate. I know Mike and maybe some others in this thread feel much of this inform...

Re: Jeff's VIC 20 Book

Suggestion: ' Set serial byte to send ' maybe? My preference would be Thanks! This is all helpful. Here's a new section on user callable ROM subroutines that I am working on. It may look rough right now. I am trying to match the style of the Kernal charts. Any thoughts? Also, many of these location...

Re: Jeff's VIC 20 Book

Can someone help me out? I am working on a new chart for user callable rom subroutines. I have found two different descriptions of the following memory location: EEE4 (61156) CIOUT Send byte on serial line and EEE4 (61156) UNTLK Serial: send untalk command to serial devices Can anyone help me rectif...

Re: Jeff's VIC 20 Book

It's got the content and it fits better, ship it. Great addition! Can you think of anything else that could be useful? There will be a lot of changes in the next draft, and I have some free space now. This book is very impressive. Great work! Thank you! Let me know if there’s anything you’d like to...

Considering visual continuity with other pages, I made a table. How does this look to you? page 119

Re: Jeff's VIC 20 Book

There's also a mistake in this section, VIA2 starts at $9120 so that row on line needs to go down one row. Corrected. I think that having the info split between the ports and the IFR means it's not so easy to find where a specific line is connected to. I find these entries rather 'wordy', if I want...

Re: Jeff's VIC 20 Book

I'm happy that the work is going well that's all Marco Oh, thank you! Do you have any space for a couple of diagrams? I've made some that summarize what the VIAs are used for. I have been compressing information and making space where I can. I am experimenting with the idea of adding your informati...

Re: Jeff's VIC 20 Book

Do you have any space for a couple of diagrams? I've made some that summarize what the VIAs are used for. Thanks! These are great! I'm now stuck with a fixed page count of 128, so I will try to move a few things around and may have to shrink them a whole lot. Early drafts had some of this info, but...

Re: Jeff's VIC 20 Book

This new draft attempts to resolve the requests for color. I just moved the color requested pages to the interior cover. This draft also features dozens of tweaks like a new cover, etc.

Re: Jeff's VIC 20 Book

Page 35: The memory map would be nice in color, even if just for the PDF I love this thing, except for lacking contrast. Grey on grey can do visually impaired people's head in. Looking forward to the next draft. EDIT for clarity: The project started with the intention of being full color. This chan...

Re: Jeff's VIC 20 Book

on page 104 of the book , The Expansion connector at the letter Y corresponds to Audio In. So Y= Audio in, as it results in all Pal and Ntsc schemes. (and not listed as "no connection"). This is true, but only for CR models. On the original boards the pin is unconnected. I will try to inc...

Re: Jeff's VIC 20 Book

NEW DRAFT: Version 0.7 PDF I felt pretty good today and had a chance to make a lot of corrections. I should have kept a change log... Some corrections for v0.6 Pages 84&85 - The 'AI' column should have BYTES '3' Page 105, User Port Note - 'explanation' Page 109, Super Expander - CIRCLE, the <wi>...
