I found a C2N at a local thrift store. This is the first time I've ever seen a Commodore product at a store, so I was really excited. It was $4, which I thought was a bit much considering it was untested, but when I opened the box I found it to be in very good physical condition. That doesn't mean i...

Haha :D, I showed this video to a couple of friends of mine in January and "A VIC 20!!!?" is still an inside joke amongst us.

This is exciting! I assume that you want payment through the donate button on Denial's main page? I noticed that after waiting for a game to load, I'm more likely to explore its finer details; unlike the average 2.5 seconds I give to roms via emulation. I completely agree. When I downloaded Gamebase...

I'd be interested. I think it's really cool that the Vic-20 is seeing a lot of new releases. And like carlsson said, $10 is comparable to the price of fast food (that's how I always justify purchases in this price range :D )

Gabriel Angelos, The VIC is inside the shield. The shield comes off really easily though. No special tricks or tools needed (assuming it is like my cost reduced model, which indeed seems to be what you are describing). So, yeah just pull it off :). I've heard it's a good idea to keep the shield off ...

It's not a problem with VICE. I just tested it on my NTSC vic and it looked just like the screenshot you posted.

Great work! It seems I'm a little rusty on my bones, but not for long :D. I have a lot of respect for the big Vic-20 projects, but seeing things like this really make me smile. I wish software like this was used at school. It would make learning much more fun. When I finish my game (might be a while...

I'm definitely going to have to buy a Mega-Cart so I can play this. ROQ III looks incredible. saehn is doing an outstanding job on the splash screen, and the screens for the other games add some unity to the various titles I think. Great work. I know nothing of wrestling, so I unfortunately cannot a...

I must see now how the joystick is read on the vic20... You will probably understand how it is from Mike's link. But if you want further information, there is a good section in the VIC-20 Programmers Reference Guide that covers reading the joystick in more depth. You can find a txt version of the b...

You can have 128 custom characters if you also move the screen to 6656. Thus, .5K is consumed by the screen matrix, and 1K is consumed by the 128 custom characters. This consumes a total of 1.5K from 6656 to 8191, leaving you 2.5K in "main" memory from 4096 to 6655. Ah, I didn't even thin...

How do you feel about using the ROM font instead of a custom font? That would free up a whopping 1K of RAM. Plus you could use unreversed PETSCII graphics for free. You use POKE36869,255 to use a mixed custom/ROM font where 0..127 are custom characters from 7168...8191 and 128..255 are the first 12...

Cheers Wilson, and welcome to the forum. Thanks! - Will it be a strictly D&D fantasy setting? No hope to see something different (e.g., a post-nuclear war setting, or sci-fi)? Not that I don't like the fantasy genre, but there have been many VIC releases recently with this setting . The setting...

New Game in progress: Castle Rex

I meant to have a demo of this game ready in time for ECCC, but the day before ECCC I found out that it only worked in VICE with true drive emulation disabled. As a result I had nothing to show, but I have resolved the issue and tested the game with true drive emulation and on a real vic-20 with a u...
