No custom Rom, ignore my comment. The copper strip has to be a grounding device of some sort seeing that it is tied to the grounding plane. Why the 555 timer? I can't see the pins it is soldered to, or is it even soldered to it?

If it had been me I would have saved the chips and keys, but the rest I don't know. You always can learn a thing or two when you watch him restore, but sometimes I cringe at the mistakes. (not that I never make any)

I have always wondered if which makes a better heat sink, copper or aluminum? In the past I have always used aluminum because of it's inability to retain heat.
