The magnetic field doesn't 'wreck' the data of the bottom side, because [schematic deleted] the top magnetic surface acts like a short circuit to the magnetic field. I didn't know a substance could actually block a magnetic force from "radiating" any further.... This comes from the so-cal...

That VIC-20 box is also decorated with what looks like the Candian Olympic Committee. How or why? There seems to have been a lot of co-operation like that I had no idea of. Could that VIC be sold at the time Calgary had applied for (but not yet awarded) Winter Olympics 1988? Yes I have one of those...

Yeah, I remember here in Canada the VICmodem came boxed with a Northern Telecom phone like the one in the picture. I'm not completely sure why, but I think it might have been because in the 1970's and early 1980s, telephones in canada were ALL made by BELL/Northern Telelcom and you could not disconn...

Looks great and works great as well! Thanks a lot for doing this. It's a great help to the VIC-20 community. :)

Well, a high resolution scan of the overlay would be appreciated, as then I can print it out, get it laminated and actually use it on my Koala Pad.

I'm tempted but not sure if it would make any sense shipping wise as I am still about 5 hours from Toronto....(no way to pick it up/would have to be shipping again to me)....is there some sort of quantity discount on the boards themselves (from C64Reloaded) if we all order one? It's flate-rate ship...

I have not seen a re-inker around for years. However, with some fabrication skills , a person should be able to make a unit that is functional. I am pretty sure I can make a re-inking jig that will advance the ribbon between ink-saturated rollers, but I am having problems finding a source (or even ...

Well, I found a place that still sells ink ribbon cartridges for old Commodore printers, and I bough two for my MPS-801! :D It was cheap, the shipping was very fast, and the service was good. I am impressed and find it really neat to see delivered a fresh new accessory for a 25+ year old printer! Th...

Re: FS: Koala Ware Dancing Bear Cartridge

Hi everyone, I have an auction up for a Koala Ware Dancing Bear Cartridge for the VIC-20. If the box is already opened, you could do us all a big favour by scanning the Koala Pad overlay at high resolution and posting it here as a JPEG for us to download. Then we could all print it and use our Koal...

Re: Copying protected cassettes

I know I could load these tapes into my PC....and then use Star Commander to put them back on to a 1541 disk How you can read a TAP file on Star Commander? need some additional files? I use some PC utilities that convert TAP on T64 and after Star Commander to transfer a T64 to a D64/D81 file but ex...

i have noticed lately that valu village and goodwill have really upped their prices too.
Yeah, I remember in 1995-96 when I started collecting Value Village sold Atari and VIC-20 cartridges for 49 CENTS each. Then it went up to 99 CENTS, then $1.99.....now $5.....erg.

I've always wondered how a magnetic head applied to one side of a floppy doesn't de-magnetize or wreck what is on the other side - considering a floppy disc surface is so thin. I guess the magnetic forces are not very strong. As for good discs: I've found that my old BASF discs are some of the best ...

Copying protected cassettes

I have a lot of old cassette games I'd like to transfer to 1541 floppies. It seems some of them have copy protection. Was there ever any software made (like all the nibblers and stuff on the C64) to copy protected tapes/disks on the VIC-20? I know I could load these tapes into my PC....and then use ...
