Re: In the making: Arukanoido – an Arkanoid clone

I think selling the game probably would be a copyright issue as it's so close to the original. There is no way to patent a game idea, but the graphics, patterns/tracks and music is most likely the property of Taito.

Re: Image display on non CRT

LCD TVs provide a far more stable picture, especially for PAL there 50 Hz CRTs were flickering quite a bit.

Re: A peculiar behaviour

The basic interpreter stores variables at the end of the basic memory I think. When using chr$, a temporary variable is probably made and stored there by the interpreter. Try to change chr$(147) to another value and you will see. Works exactly the same on the c64.

9V DC 3A works well for me as long as you connect it well to the vic's power input. (Crocodile clamps are not enough). And I have a lot of pheripials connected to the vic-20.

Re: My 2-prong DC PSU experiments

I just measured the userport 5v on a vic20cr with a c128 psu (with adapted connector). It was 4.87 v, just as on the non-cr vic-20.

I think pixel is writing some kind of unix-like OS and a graphics interface (along with his other 254 projects)...

Why not some chip from an ensoniq synth, designed by the former commodore engineers.

Re: Volume channel noise?

Yes, the pop is bigger the bigger the difference in volume change. So you can do it gradually.

Compare this:

10 FORT=0TO15:POKE36878,T:NEXT
20 FORT=15TO0STEP-1:POKE36878,T:NEXT
30 GOTO10

to this:

10 POKE36878,15:POKE36878,0:GOTO10

Re: Toaster.

[ I like the socketed chips in my 2 pin. I don't have a lot of experience with solder and it allows me to make repairs without having to worry about messing anything up. What's the advantage of s-video on anew 8 bit machine. I have socked chips on one of my Vic-20CRs. The advantage of S-video is th...

Re: Toaster.

Earlier, I thought the early 9V Vic-20 was the better computer because of the better display. Now, I think the later Vic-20CR + S-Video mod is the best one.

Re: Toaster.

There is a problem with all of this though. Anyone who not read this thread wouldn't have a clue. And both vic-20 models would still be breadbins as they look the same. I could imagine something like this: Person A: Is your vic-20 a breadbin? Person B: of course, it's an early breadbin with the 9v P...
