It just suddenly hit me! ... This theory also explains the rapid evacuation of the area as indicated with the frantic traffic patterns in both directions. Frogger evidently takes place shortly after some ecological disaster. ... Wow! I thought only autistic people noticed such details! Usually when...

Thanks very much. :D You mentioned there are two jump-upon-reset addresses, what's the difference between them? Is there a canonical resource for this info, by the way? I don't see these details in the PRG. Regards, Brad I think one is an address for reset and the other is for NMI or interrupt. I a...

Hi Brent, Before you do that, of course, try to physically inspect the cart to see if BLK 1, 2 or 3 are being used. What you want is to power up the VIC with your terminal cartridge turned off then turn the cart back on. At this point you should still have the 3583bytes free message but the cart is ...

WRT to uploading games to zimmers site for global availability, I believe credit should be to folks who dumped or donated images from their collections (rather than who was first to send image along to Bo). I recovered Basic V4 back in 1997 but I only got it fixed last year... I also recovered Mobi...

Having typed in and played Hammurabi by David Ahl back in 1983, I rediscovered these: http://www.atariarchives.org/basicgames/ http://www.atariarchives.org/morebasicgames/ http://www.atariarchives.org/bigcomputergames/ Maybe I'll type in and save on a tape a couple of these on the VIC for the fun of...

Be careful when you send him stuff. Bo has no time to classify stuff. Don't send him a zip archive with a bunch of files in there that are different in types (such as mixing util with game carts) and tell him in advance where you think it is the best place to put these files. Give a good description...

Pretty much anything that loads at $A000 on the VIC is autostart cartridges. For the autostart to be activated by the VIC's kernal, you have to have a very specific sequence of bytes at the beginning of the code. You are right in interpreting that the first two bytes indicates the load address to be...

Just a note concerning gameplay. The real game of Frogger can be set to offer 3, 5 or 7 frogs at the beginning of the game. As an example, Omega Race can also offer more lives at the start of a game. On the VIC, if you press Shift-F1 to start a game instead of just F1, you'll get 5 lives instead of ...

Burning data on 27c256 or 27c512 for 4$/6$
If you have any electronic projects, VIC related or not, that requires data on a non-erasable (OTP PROM) 27c256 or 27c512, just send me your file. I will permanenetly record your data on a 27c256 for 4$ each chip or on a 27c512 for 6$ each chip. Chip and programming service included. Quantity discou...

... This is a broad assumption to make, given you do not know all of the functionality or have code. ... I would simply make the M29F032 appear at the same place and in the same manner as the 2 EPROMs and change nothing to the rest. There are lots of changes between the hardware of the original VIC...

... Q-Bert was indeed just as bad as Frogger, I agree - I don't really like Q-Bert as I find it frustrating to play, and to do a good conversion would have to clock up a few hours playing it.. we'll see.. :) ... ... As for NTSC, what I really need is for a few people to fire it up on their NTSC machines and tell me what you can see, and therefore what you can't see... problem is the PAL game uses 256 scanlines (same as the arcade machine), which may be more than NTSC can display.. I have a few suggestions ...
