Re: Work in progress: REALMS OF QUEST V

Those distinct color schemes for the portraits work very well. Very pleasing to the eye but also instant color-coded information.

Re: Shamus VIC 20 two versions ?

I'm very curious too. If it's only half as good as the Griner version, it still must count as one of the best VIC-games.

Re: VIC Game Club No. 3 – Typing Games

Heh, that's five games I would never have tried if it was not for this game club thing.

I promise to try them all :)

Re: VIC Game Club No. 1 – Qix Inspired Games

OK, here's my strategy.

It should be self-explanatory. It's just a loose guideline and the areas 1, 2, 3 do not need to look exactly as in the screenshot, but the vertical tunnel between area 1 & 3 should be one square wide and the last area to fill.

Re: VIC Game Club No. 1 – Qix Inspired Games

I find it great for playing while listening to the radio or podcasts. Had another go at Squeeze while listening to a long and very recent Scott Adams interview https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NpFxLHESxOI&feature=youtu.be The Count is briefly discussed. 9116! But I am disappointed to not reach 1...

Re: WIP - mystery port #1

Makes a lot of sense!

I enjoyed it very much on the C64, but I haven't played it in 30 years.

Re: VIC Game Club No. 2 – The Count

Playing The Count was almost like being “in the zone” – everything just clicked for me and I actually found it quite easy. It’s funny because I haven’t played any text adventures in many, many years. The sole exception is Adventureland, which I played in 2015 on three nights (but did not complete). ...

Re: VIC Game Club No. 2 – The Count

Long blog post on The Count with several comments by Scott Adams himself. Good read but lots of spoilers! http://gamingafter40.blogspot.se/2009/08/great-scott-project-adventure-5.html Youtuber Angry Video Game Nerd also covered The Count  Well, he probably made a lot of young gamers discover t...

Re: VIC Game Club No. 2 – The Count

Finished it! I was indeed very close to solve it yesterday. Incredibly tense feeling as I approached the crypt for the final time, knowing that Dracula himself should (but would he?) be there. Unfortunately I did it in the dark the first time (didn't believe it would work but it did). I then did it ...

Well, it wasn't... I am stuck and also a bit mad!

I guess I have underestimated the game. I haven't made any notes at all and certainly not a map.

I think I will start with a list of all objects.

Re: VIC Game Club No. 2 – The Count

At last another session. Maybe I was not really stuck before as I immediately made good progress when I approached the plot in a slightly different way. Now I look forward to a productive day 3! I made it through day 2. I died even more times on day 2 than day 1. This is one of those times when I es...

Re: Vx02 Emulator

Name: Vx02 Emulator There's very little information available, but apparently Vx02 was a true oddball, low budget home computer based on 6502 chip and manufactured by Imaginary Early Computers, Inc. over 40 years ago. Vx02 has no keyboard! Everything is controlled by a joystick (or as they call it,...

Re: VIC Game Club No. 2 – The Count

I created a VICE snapshot for the start of the game that should work for others. If someone could verify it works, I'll add it to the first post to make loading the game easier. The Count - Start of Game VICE Snapshot.zip It didn't work for me but I am using VICE 2.4 (and as said in a previous post...

Re: VIC Game Club No. 2 – The Count

Another session last night. It's much more intricate than most of the text adventures I have played on my VIC. Lots of juggling with the inventory and finding the correct order of moving about to minimize the number of moves/time spent. I guess I am stuck now. The first night is going on forever and...
