Re: What 16k games should I try?
Bongo is a pretty special game and a great choice for a 16k game but I find it infuriatingly difficult on Vice, playing with keyboard or gamepad (even worse IMO). On a real Vic 20 with a responsive joystick, it is much more enjoyable. My hi score from the 80s seem to be 36 000 if I can trust my old ...

Re: Helix Colony for Unexpanded VIC-20
I'm not very fond of Minesweeper (mainly because I suck at it) but this is an excellent expansion which adds strategic layers. I have just played it briefly on easy and found it quite hard but was very impressed. Seems like there is a lot of depth emerging from simple mechanics. Smooth movement too ...

Re: VIC Game Club No. 1 – Qix Inspired Games
Thanks, great info :) Really interesting that the publisher (Romik in this case) was involved and made suggestions - some good ones (Shark Attack) and some bad ones (Sea Invasion). I'm sure the tune got on my parents's nerves, but my brain didn't (and doesn't) work that way. i found it hypnotic and ...

Re: VIC Game Club No. 1 – Qix Inspired Games
Hi Cliff! As a kid I had the impresion that Martian Raider was your most well-known game in Sweden (Romik's games were imported to Sweden bý a firm called Tial Trading), but Shark Attack was always my favourite. Insanely playable for an unexpanded Vic game and I loved that it had an in-game tune. I ...

Re: Wunda Walter - Interceptor Micros 1984 - [+16K] - better dump
Yes, the review was in Your Computer magazine. I was so impressed by the screenshots that I went out and bought it (my local radio store in Sweden had it in stock!). A little bit smoother overall and it would have been a masterpiece, but still a very nicely done game with lots of attention to detail...

Re: New Game: Pumpkid
Finally got around to play this. Very attractive and professional presentation as others have noted. And gameplay is top notch too. Hunting the witch is tense and it's very satisfying to get in hits. Would make for a great score competition game here on Denial. Next Halloween perhaps

Re: Trained VIC20 Games , Cheatcodes and Trainer Pokes
Very cool When the C64 brought cheats to the masses, I always wished there were some for the Vic too. I look forward to explore these games - some of which are very difficult. Thanks!

Re: Robots Rumble released
Much harder than I first thought, though very enjoyable :D But I, too, will probably resort to save states ... I find the graphics extremely well done, the colors are just perfect and the robots are exquisitely cute. There are not exactly an abundance of action puzzlers for the Vic, so this is reall...

Zombie Calavera Prologue, Tenebra Macabre and now this All technically superb and beautiful!

Re: Megaton!
I never heard about Doughboy until last year when I was talking to my assistant T&F coach during training. I told him that my first computer was a Vic 20 and to my surprise he replied that so was his. Of course I wanted to know his favourite games and he mentioned a game called Doughboy that his...

Ah... 10 points for the life potions! I obviously need to be more observant. Maybe I already had 100% life points when I checked? I'm not sure :? But I guess I was mistaken about the life points looping back to 99. Thanks for clarifying things - now I should be able to approach the game in a more fa...

Re: Zombie Calavera Prologue
I don't think I have ever seen Vic 20 sprites move as well as these! Extremely responsive too, but also extremely hard ... I guess running and jumping would be easier with a joystick but I have no way of transferring files from my PC to a real Vic 20, so I'm stuck with Vice and my keyboard for this....

Re: Work in progress: REALMS OF QUEST V
Looks nice, very readable! I also love the full screen cut scene portraits. It'll be a very large game indeed, in all respects. Yes, yes, yes - make it easy for reviewers! You really should get a review (preferrably an article!) in Retro Gamer, a magazine I dearly love. There are also tons more Retr...
