Re: Realms Of Quest V - tell your progress in-game!

I was really hot on this game when it first came out, but I found the insta-kill squares in the dungeon so annoying that I haven't picked it up in a while. :| Yeah, there's a spell that helps, but it's all too easy to not notice it has timed out. I'm sorry that you feel that way. The game is largel...

Re: Realms Of Quest V - tell your progress in-game!

Well, I played at first with real floppies because I wanted the real experience - just like how I sometimes use the datasette to remember the complete experience of using old Commodore 8-bits. I was actually not *too* bad. I changed eventually because every monster encounter meant swapping disks, w...

Re: Realms Of Quest V - tell your progress in-game!

I've finished the game (as of August 30th, 2020)! Played on a real VIC-20. Started out with actual floppies, then about 1/4 of the way in switched over the an SD card with uIEC. Thanks for making the game, Ghislain, my VIC-20 has never gotten such a work out. Probably will play "Two Days to th...

Re: Denial Return to Print

I'm curious about the distribution of the Denial newsletter. How did people hear about it and order a copy? For myself, I found out about the newsletter by doing an internet search on Yahoo! for VIC-20 related things on a VT-100 text-based terminal at the library. I then found a webpage that was an...

Re: Denial Return to Print

I'd love to see more issues of Denial. I have fond memories of getting the very first issue in the mail in 1996. I was in the middle of making Vicfall II at the time.

And for anyone else still interested in a physical version... Realms of Quest V boxed "light" edition If you missed your chance to grab a boxed edition of Realms Of Quest V for the Commodore VIC 20, you're in luck! We will soon open pre-orders for a small batch of 15 boxed "light&quo...

Re: Realms Of Quest V - problems with save slots

Playing on my VIC-20,sd card reader booting from full game file.I was wondering if there is a certain save file that needs to be recognized before booting the game. You should make sure that the LOCK tab on your SD card is not enabled. If it is enabled, your attempt to save your game will not work....

Re: Realms Of Quest V - tell your progress in-game!

I already solved the game once, and now I have 106 out of 121 shards of the Tablet Of Uthar in my second playthrough  realms1.jpg I've decided to display the Tablet in multiple colors so that it is easier to cross reference the parts that you've found based on what is shown on page 34 of th...

Re: *ALL PHYSICAL COPIES ARE SOLD OUT*: REALMS OF QUEST V (Digital version is available)

What version are we up to now? ;) Would be nice if when there are NO more updates to come, Double Sided could issue a final set of physical disks for purchasers, especially if they don't have access to transfer the D64 to disk. I'm working on version 1.4. I consider the game "feature-locked&qu...

Re: *ALL PHYSICAL COPIES ARE SOLD OUT*: REALMS OF QUEST V (Digital version is available)

I had to play "where's Waldo" comparing the two covers for a while before I noticed the change(s). Although a small change, probably for the better in some aspects (like making the game more inviting for women to play). Just wondering what your personal rationale was. I do think the outfi...

Re: *ALL PHYSICAL COPIES ARE SOLD OUT*: REALMS OF QUEST V (Digital version is available)

I continue to modify the game, even long after it was published in physical form. I actually implemented some very good quality-of-life improvements, most notably being able to directly swap inventory items from the equip screen (instead of having to view the player first) and now you can use an ite...

Re: *ALL PHYSICAL COPIES ARE SOLD OUT*: REALMS OF QUEST V (Digital version is available)

A question: - In the Merchant's in the town of Wynna, there is a Balthazar Ring for sale. It's not listed in my (physical) copy of the game's manual. What does it do? It is not listed in the physical manual because it is one of 7 items I decided to add to version 1.3 of the game (which I sent to yo...

Re: *ALL PHYSICAL COPIES ARE SOLD OUT*: REALMS OF QUEST V (Digital version is available)

I am about half-way through the game, but I've still not found a way to revive a player who has fallen asleep (i.e. sleep spell). I can't find a spell to do that. Only way I've found is resting at in inn. Is there any other way to waken a sleeping party member? The spells "Remove Curse" a...

Well... the final screen is actually several slideshow images. The one that the player on Twitter posted was the most innocuous one.
