Re: Raspberry Pi 400 - Computer in a keyboard!

Wow! We all thought that Clive Sinclair was insane, but he got it right... just 40 years too soon... It seems to be a matter of some dispute as to which micro the Pi takes after. My first impulse was the super cheap Sinclair systems but the Acorn lot also claim it because of the ARM processor and I...

Re: NOS Vic-20 cart games (Tas, Australia)

I think I recognise your name from Stardot. Are you a fellow Beeb user?

Thank you for the link to the cart games. I'm sure they'll soon find happy homes.

That's not a bad idea. I've got a BBC Master 128 on my desk at the moment and it's not coming off any time soon. TheVIC-20 can wear a Christmas hat and a reindeer jumper.

Re: BBC Micro

Of course, are there. I meant „how is it“ from a real point of view, as user It's still early days for me but so far I love it. The keyboard feels much the same as the VIC-20 one. The other thing of note is that the sound comes from an internal speaker with no volume adjustment instead of through t...

Re: BBC Micro

You own a BBC system? How is it? 🤔 There are plenty of videos on YT that show both the model B and the Master 128 in action with all the various accessories that are up for grabs. There are lots of cool things like a RAM expansion to double your 32k which goes underneath the Basic ROM chip (it's ca...

Re: ZX Spectrum Next

I think part of the appeal of the Next for me is that I feel dissatisfied with the original Sinclair (and Amstrad) hardware. I want a system that rights the wrongs of the 80s and gives me a ZX Spectrum I can get behind. If FPGA is the means to achieve that then so be it. By the same standard, I'm le...

Re: ZX Spectrum Next

I backed the recent KS for the Plus model. I'm excited at the prospect of getting a robust, ergonomic Speccy for the 21st century (and those adjectives have never been associated with the ZX Spectrum before).

Re: BBC Micro

Now THIS is incredible! Best advertising for an underdog of the time (at least here in Italy). Wonder why it didn't spread more all over the world. Acorn did get very big in the UK thanks to the BBC contract and their subsequent reputation for educational systems but they were hampered by their riv...

BBC Micro

I recently bought a model B. I've added a Turbo MMC micro-SD card interface and had the internal PSU recapped. The main thing that strikes me about the system so far is how open and accessible everything is. Most systems aim to deter the end user from going inside but with the Beeb most of the acces...

Re: Retro Replica. Sword of Fargoal

The Giana Sisters repro has a small RR logo on the inlay, which isn't large enough imo to be easily discernable as a reproduction. I agree. It's going to take someone familiar with both the original packaging and the collector's market to spot that RR and know what it signifies. A lot of people cou...
