Other Native Symbolic Assemblers

Hi everyone. Before I ask my question, I must warn you that I don't want to be lectured on the benefits of cross development. I understand them fully. I also enjoy machine language programming and creating programs on my VIC. :D Anyways... I've been doing research into native assemblers that I could...

Re: Which Gamebase20 games are worth playing

Jeff Minter's games are great, but I'm also partial to the other Jeff. Not only are his games fun to play, they really show off what can be done with just BASIC. Aleksi Eeben put together some fun games as well, but if I remember correctly, most of his are PAL only (if that's an issue for you).

Re: Halloween animation

That was creepy, bizarre, and yes, the audio quality and miscellaneous noises added to it quite well. Good job :D.

Re: WIP - Demons of Dex

I'm getting "error loading start snapshot file".

I'm still a new to VICE, but I found that if the current video standard in VICE does not match the video standard of the recording, I get that error. I recorded with the video standard set to NTSC. Maybe that's the problem.

Re: WIP - Demons of Dex

Since you beat it on first attempt, do you think the game was too easy? Well... To tell you the truth I'm not sure. There was a period of several years in my life where I played nothing but roguelikes, so I've had a lot of practice. Your game was not excessively unfair (like the original Rogue), ex...

Re: WIP - Demons of Dex

I finally had a chance to sit down with this game. I beat it on my first try. My final score was 6660. I think you did a fantastic job! The sound effects, music, animations, varying level themes... All of it was awesome! Those mages on the finally level were a pain in the butt. Sadly, I don't have t...

I second what ravenxau said. Especially if there's going to be more content then Whack.

Re: WIP - Serpent Caves

Managed to escape with 17 diamonds... One thing I noticed is the game slows down a lot on the last levels.... Mabey only having 10 levels instead of 15, but adjusting the difficulty to allow for the change...also, the status bar issue will be fixed in the next release. Sounds like a good idea. Gonn...

Re: WIP - Serpent Caves

I wasn't quite clear. For roguelikes in general yes, but I meant with respect to your game and what you had/have in mind :). I had assumed since there was no dedicated wait button that I was doing something unintended and was breaking the game. Also, I forgot to mention that the status bar at the b...

Re: WIP - Serpent Caves

Nothing wrong with resting - it's a legitimate strategy I wasn't quite clear. For roguelikes in general yes, but I meant with respect to your game and what you had/have in mind :). I have also been considering making the game full color - It will be interesting to see if this pans out or not Awesom...

Re: WIP - Serpent Caves

is the difficulty curve ok? Oh yea. I think it gets pretty darn challenging toward the double digit floors. I've been surviving longer by finding/creating a safe spot where I can see most the serpents and am a good distance from them. Then, I repeatedly bump into a wall to get my health back. Most ...

I've been trying my best to beat it. I've gotten to level 13. The game is shaping up nicely and I hope you continue working on it.
